EN 1.4110 steel (chemically designated as X55CrMo14) is a martensitic stainless steel. It is most directly equivalent to the AISI 440A (USA) and SUS440A (Japan) steel grades.
General characteristics
Dura 4110 is a high hardness martensitic stainless steel (compared to 1.4034), but with improved corrosion and wear resistance. It is applied for, e.g., knife blades, scissors, surgical cutting tools, measuring tools, pump construction, valves.
On the other hand, D2 steel is much harder than other steels, and as a result, it holds sharpening a bit better. However, it is not as strong and is much harder to sharpen it. 1.4116 stainless steel is a high-carbon German steel, which has a better quench hardness.
440C (1.4125) Stainless Steel. 440C stainless steel is a martensitic stainless steel grade which can be heat threated up to 57 - 60 HRC. This grade is written as 1.4125 or X105CrMo17 according to EN norm and UNS S44004 according to UNS norm.

Disadvantages of VG-10 Steel
Despite its edge retention, VG-10 will eventually need sharpening to maintain optimal performance. Sharpening VG-10 steel requires some skill, as its hardness can make it a challenge for those unfamiliar with sharpening high-end steels.
Stainless steel and chlorine do not belong together. Quite the contrary. We can safely say that chlorine and chlorine products are among the greatest enemies of stainless steel - certainly of the most commonly used quality, SS 304.
