Grab a spray bottle and add one and a half cups of plain water to it, then add a quarter cup of white vinegar and a quarter cup of rubbing alcohol. To that mixture you can add 15 to 20 drops of peppermint essential oil. You'll end up with a minty-fresh window and glass cleaner!
Citrus: Citrus essential oils give off a fresh, fruity, and bright smell. They smell clean, have a sweet aroma; most people enjoy the scent of citrus oils.
Set up odor traps across the house
Leave out bowls of baking soda or distilled vinegar to absorb odors like magic. Alternatively, create your own deodorizing sachets by filling coffee filters with baking soda, tying them shut with string or ribbon, and putting them on shelves or in drawers.
For us this means the living room, dining room, and kitchen. I also use Fabuloso® to mop the floors with too, it works great and leaves them smelling wonderful and clean too.
Florals are one of the most popular luxury hotel scents for a reason. Jasmine, rose, geranium, lavender, tuberose, lily: there are so many scents to pick from, you're bound to find one that you like, whether you prefer your home to smell like a single flower or the inside of a hothouse.
Use essential oils in a diffuser with citrus, vanilla, or minty-spa scents. An essential oil diffuser is great for large open areas or a reed diffuser is an easy way to scent a small space like the bathroom. Try a combination of lemon, lavender, and eucalyptus.
There's another thing you can do, though: Pull out a bottle of distilled white vinegar. The acetic acid in vinegar neutralizes alkaline odors, which means it can help get rid of cooking smells cheaply and easily. Some people make a diluted solution of vinegar and keep it in a spray bottle to mist around the room.
You can use lemon—or another kind of citrus—peel, herbs, spices or essential oils. The choice is yours! Note that the longer you allow these aromatics to sit in the vinegar solution before using it, the more effective they will be.
As the vinegar evaporates, it takes those neutralized molecules with it, leaving behind no scent at all. You don't have to spray vinegar around to reap its deodorizing benefits. Just fill a small, shallow dish, stick it in the corner, and wait. After a few hours, that odor will be long gone.
Grapefruit essential oil has a long-lasting effect on your home, and you only need a few ingredients to turn it into an effective cleaner. Along with one gallon of steaming water, four tablespoons of baking soda, and 10 to 15 drops of grapefruit essential oil will do the trick!
Another alternative for disinfecting surfaces is mixing Fabuloso with rubbing alcohol. However, mixing Fabuloso with bleach, vinegar, ammonia, and some cleaning products like Ajax is not recommended because it can cause harmful chemical reactions that can harm your health.
Fabuloso is an all-purpose cleaner known for its fresh scents like lavender, citrus or ocean breeze. Some use it for more than just cleaning their bathroom or kitchen. They boil it on the stove to make their home smell nice and clean.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is a fantastic odor-absorber. Carpet and Upholstered Furniture - Sprinkle baking soda on surface, let sit 30 minutes or overnight, then vacuum away to freshen and remove odors. Bedding - Refresh your mattress with baking soda.
Clary sage and jasmine will create a heady 'feel good' atmosphere for a party. If you prefer a lighter, fresher aroma, then try orange, lemongrass or neroli. For a festive moment mix frankincense, sandalwood, cinnamon, and sweet orange. Rose, neroli, and lavender are delightful essential oils for the bedroom.
Examples of rich essential oils would be Vetiver, Patchouli and Jasmine. Sensual aromas tend to be exotic in nature. Examples of sensual aromas are Vanilla, Jasmine and Blue Lotus.
Some of the items in your pantry (like baking soda and vinegar) work as effective homemade all-purpose cleaners and, even better, cost next to nothing.
