The average height of a clothesline is around 6 ft to 7 1/2 ft tall. It is best to make your line tall enough so the laundry doesn't touch the ground but low enough to accommodate the height of the person hanging out the laundry.
We generally install clotheslines at the height of 1.8 metres up from the top surface of the pavers or lawn below. It is recommended you be available to meet the installer on site if you would like the clothesline installed lower or higher than this to confirm your preferred height.

In its simplest terms, dig a hole and concrete it in. What height are your line posts? The majority of our poles are 2.5metres long, giving 2 metres above ground.
End, corner and gate posts should be marked at the height of the fence plus 1 inch; 49" for a 4' fence, 61" for a 5' fence, etc. Mark intermediate or line posts at height of the fence minus 3 inches; 45" for 4' fence, 57" for 5' fence, etc. When you add your line post cap and top rail, the height will be accurate.
The clothesline will exert significant pressure on the clothesline post, especially when there are wet clothes hanging from the line, the post must be very solid and firmly planted in the ground. Treated wood: Use a 6" × 6" post available in length of 16'.
Be wary of installing your clothesline too close to trees or buildings that'll block this motion of snag your clothes. Ideally, too, you'll have a nice flat patch of ground to avoid any wonkiness or wobbles.
The height of a wash basin should be between 0.80 m and 0.85 m above the finished floor level. The distance between the center line of the wash-basin and the adjacent side wall should at least be 0.45 m.
Siphoning. The drain pipe should be a minimum of 1-1/2" I.D. (inside diameter) to ensure proper draining. The Washer drain hose is a 1-1/4" O.D. (outside diameter). To be confident that no siphoning of water will take place, the drain plumbing must be a minimum of 30" high for Top Load Washers.
When choosing a location for your new clothesline, bear in mind that the strong summer sun can discolour your clothing. The best spot for drying is somewhere lightly shaded that gets a good amount of breeze.
As a rule, place the top rod 80 to 82-inches up from the floor and the bottom rod about 40-inches up from the floor. For a single rod application, plan 60-inches from the floor for placement. You will need at least 1-foot, 9-inches (24-inches is standard) away from the back wall for hanging.
Begin by digging a hole 10 inches in diameter and 24 inches deep at the desired T-Post location. Distance between posts should be no more than 30 feet.
The general guide is to place the clothesline about 100mm -150mm above the primary users head height. Do NOT place the clothesline too high either as this will make closing the clothesline too hard as most fold down clotheslines need to be pushed up in order for them to close down.
Preparing for Installation
Remember to install above the water height of the washer. This is typically 42 in. from the floor to the top of the outlet box. If you're replacing an existing outlet box, shut off the water supply and drain the water lines.
Give consideration to selecting a level, north or south facing site to achieve the maximum amount of sunlight, and away from view if possible.
Most standard lower cabinets are manufactured for a finished countertop height of 36 inches. This is comfortable for food preparation but may be too high for folding laundry, especially large items. A countertop or table that is more in the range of 30 to 34 inches is more comfortable.
Standard Basin Height:
The standard height for a bathroom wash basin ranges from 80 to 85 cm (31 to 34 inches) from the floor to the basin's top lip.
Standard height toilets are typically 14 to 15 inches in height.

Choose an area of the yard where the clothesline won't get in anyone's way. For the single line, you'll need a heavy-duty hook; a metal eye hook; a cleat, a small metal fitting that you'll wrap the rope around to anchor it (imagine the device you use to secure a rope on a flagpole); and a metal ring.
Most clotheslines are approximately 6 feet (1.8 m). tall. Two 10 ft. posts work well for this, because it gives you the height and allows 3–4 feet (0.91–1.2 m).
If you want to prioritise strength and durability, a steel-core clothesline is the best washing line rope for you. Since this rope is reinforced with steel, it can hold the heaviest of washing loads over long periods of time without sagging or deteriorating.
