Mid-tone woods. It seems as though 2021 will see people moving somewhat away from the light wood of the past few years and into a medium, Goldilocks shade of wood. “We've seen the uptick in light, white oak European wood floors for years,” says designer Whittney Parkinson.
Many designers are pushing modern flooring ideas that include cool and desaturated tones (dark browns, grays, white washes, light browns). On the flip side, some warmer tones are also trending as well. Medium wood in shades like honey, copper, and blonde are gaining popularity because of their light and airy feel.
Although gray is extremely versatile and perfectly complements any neutral décor, it is not as timeless as traditional hardwood tones. However, it is now possible to blend gray with brown to achieve a more greige look which will likely stand the test of time.

To match your gray flooring to your walls select a flat gray paint that is the same shade or lighter in color for best results. This will help avoid the space from appearing too dark. Other wall colors that work well with gray flooring are sand, honey, light green and pale yellow.
Grey floors are easier to keep clean than dark brown hardwood floors because they show less dust. Lighter gray floors can make a room feel open and airy, while darker gray stains can visually reduce the space.
12mm is much more impact resistant than 8mm. Sharp items that accidentally fall on a thicker base will have very little effect on it. That's the reason why people prefer 12mm laminate in high traffic areas.
