Use a strong odor eliminator or disinfectant in the area. You can do this by spraying a product like Bac-Azap into the holes or hanging Earth Care Odor Remover Bags or Smelleze around. Replace the bags as necessary or continue spraying the eliminating spray until the decomposition has finished.
Use vinegar: Vinegar is truly the simplest solution to deodorize the space. Just fill in several disposable cups with vinegar and arrange them around the area where the dead animal was found. The vinegar can magically soak in all the bad smell leaving the space odorless and fresh. Use ground coffee or coffee filters:
Baking soda is also an effective method to remove the dead mouse smell from your home and is effortless. You will need baking soda and water to make a paste that can be rubbed into hard-to-reach places such as cracks and crevices where mice may have died and left their scent behind.

Dead animals will smell until they are entirely decomposed or dried out. The damper the site, the longer the odor will last. For example, if a rat dies near a steam pipe, the smell can be horrible for weeks, but the odor from a dead mouse may last only a day.
Locate the source. As soon as you notice what you think is the dead rat smell, start looking for an increased presence of flies, maggots, beetles and other insects that are attracted to dead animals.

Ventilate your space: Your best first line of defense is to create more airflow in the space where the smell is particularly awful. Keep doors and windows open, and run a fan near the area to bring in more fresh air. Active charcoal packets: These small packets can work wonders at removing odors.
Several common household items (most notably baking soda and white vinegar) contain powerful properties that eliminate smells without the use of chemicals. But less-commonly known products like coffee and vodka can do wonders when it comes to eliminating, not simply covering, bad smells.
Next, sprinkle about ¼ cup of baking soda evenly over the affected area, and let it sit out for awhile. Overnight or around 8 hours would work, but the longer it's left out, the more effective it will be. After the baking soda has had time to neutralize the odor, vacuum it all up.
