MAP-Pro fuel has more heat transfer in the primary flame than Propane. PRIMARY COMBUSTION 255 HEATING VALUE 433 [BTU/CU. FT.]
MAPP (5300*F) burns much hotter than MAP-Pro (3730*F) or propane (3600*F). Propane at around $3 per bottle and MAP-Pro at around $10 from local big box stores (US). I recommend buying Propane at local big box stores for most projects around home.
Parts of a Torch
The cylinder can hold any of the three major fuel types: propane, max power propylene (or MAP-Pro), and butane. These fuel types are indicated by the color of the cylinder: blue for propane, yellow for MAP-Pro, red for oxygen, and green represents butane.
Mapp/air is hot enough to do silver brazing but common brass brazing is a problem because you cannot heat things hot enough quick enough. Enter oxygen, 100% oxygen rather than 20% oxygen (air) and the flame temperature rises and the heat output rises and not only can you braze but you can actually do a little welding.
In complete combustion with a blue flame, the temperature of a propane flame is 3,560˚ Fahrenheit. With a yellow or orange flame, the flame's temperature is 1,832˚ Fahrenheit. Cooking with only half the heat generated by an oven's heating element can significantly impact the quality of your dishes.

The TS 8000 will burn both propane and MAP-Pro gas (propylene)—the cylinders for both have the same threads. Propane burns at 3,600° (all temperatures in Fahrenheit) and MAP-Pro at 3,730°, just 3.6% hotter [This calculation of percentage isn't appropriate. See Comments below.

With only half the heat energy now at your disposal, you'll probably notice difficulties caused by uneven temperature when cooking.
A set of MAPP and oxygen cylinders is used for oxy-fuel welding and cutting. MAPP gas was widely regarded as a safer and easier-to-use substitute for acetylene, but, early in 2008, its production was discontinued at the only remaining plant in North America that still manufactured it.
MAPP burns at 2925°C (with oxygen), acetylene at 3160°C (with oxygen). That means acetylene burns hotter.
Propane only torch head will not work for MAPP gas. Remember that you are holding a fire in your hand. Using the right equipment is cheaper than a visit to a hospital.
MAP-Pro can be used for similar applications as propane. As this gas offers extra heat, it can also be used for projects such as brazing and soldering copper pipes over ¾”.

A gas/air torch will not get hot enough to melt copper. You'll need to invest in a gas/oxygen setup. The Smith Little Torch kit that works with 1lb. propane and oxygen bottles is a good introductory setup.
MAP and propane are interchangeable. But you cannot refill a map bottle with butane.
From a performance perspective, acetylene has the hottest flame (around 5,720°F).

MAPP is a gas mixture created by the Dow Chemical Company that is a combination of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) mixed with methylacetylene-propadiene. MAPP gas can be highly pressurized and stored in the same way as LPG, and it is a favorite of hobby welders.
Let's begin with the flame itself. Under ideal conditions, the temperature of the propane gas flame should be in the 3,560° F range, with the maximum temperature limit at 3,595° F.
The wood starts to break down chemically at 500° F and volatile matter is vaporized. These vapors contain between 50 and 60 percent of the heat value of the wood. At 1100° F these vapors burn. This high temperature must be maintained for maximum efficiency in combustion.
