These microscopic intruders are called the dust mites. They're super tiny bugs that live in your beds. You can't see them, but they're there. They hide within the very fabric of our sanctuaries.
Vacuuming: Use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter to remove mites from carpets, upholstery, and other surfaces. Dusting: Dust surfaces regularly with a damp cloth to avoid dispersing mites into the air. Wash Fabrics: Wash bedding, curtains, and any removable fabric items in hot water to kill mites.
Spider Mites/White Mites.
You will find them on your furniture, carpets, curtains, bed linen and all other house furnishings. White mites are considered harmless by some as they don't bite, but they DO shed hairs and it is these that can produce allergic reactions in humans.
Tiny creatures that like to breed in moist places, No-See-Ums are only . 03 inches long and easy to mistake for specks of dust or dirt. They're so small that they can often permeate through standard window screening. Other names include gnats, sand flies, or biting midges.
Springtails: These tiny, wingless insects thrive in damp environments and are often found indoors in areas with high humidity. They do not bite humans but may be mistaken for bed bugs if found in bedding or furnishings.
How can bed bugs get into my home? They can come from other infested areas or from used furniture. They can hitch a ride in luggage, purses, backpacks, or other items placed on soft or upholstered surfaces. They can travel between rooms in multi-unit buildings, such as apartment complexes and hotels.
In addition to black gnats, people also refer to biting midges as no-see-ums, sand flies, or punkies. These pests may look like just a dark speck to the naked eye, but their bites create a noticeable burning sensation. Biting midges may leave behind itchy welts on skin.
While soil mites are generally harmless, they can become a nuisance in large numbers. Excessive populations can indicate overwatering or poor soil conditions.
To help get rid of bed bugs and their eggs, clean the infested area thoroughly: Vacuum high-risk areas such as the mattress, box spring, and bed frame, as well as furniture, drawers, baseboards, and the floor near the bed. Be sure to remove the vacuum bag immediately after use and throw it away in a sealed plastic bag.
Wash all sheets, blankets, pillowcases and bedcovers in hot water that is at least 130 F (54.4 C) to kill dust mites and remove allergens.
Reduce Humidity: Dust mites hate dry air. Utilize dehumidifiers to maintain an environment where they cannot thrive.
House dust mites are found in all homes but prefer warm, humid conditions.
Essential Oils
Combine Clove, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Peppermint or Rosemary oil with water in a spray bottle and spray your bed, linens, and other furniture lightly with a fine mist. Once this mixture air dries, the scent should repel dust mites.
The 2 most common treatments for scabies are permethrin cream and malathion lotion. Both medications contain insecticides that kill the scabies mite. Permethrin cream is usually recommended as the first treatment. Malathion lotion is used if permethrin isn't effective.
Take Regular Showers
By showering regularly, you can remove any dust mites that may be on your skin and hair, preventing them from spreading to other areas of your home. Additionally, taking a shower before bed will help wash away allergens and create a clean sleeping environment.

One of the easiest removal techniques to get rid of soil mites is by repotting your plant with new or refreshed soil. You would use a sift to separate the mites from the dirt, then use this to pot your plant again. If you replace the soil, make sure to put the old soil in a compost bin.
Ongoing exposure to dust mites at home can impact the health of people with asthma and those who are allergic or sensitive to mites. These allergens can trigger mild to severe allergic symptoms and can be responsible for asthma attacks. A mild case may cause an occasional runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing.
Mites are extremely tiny round black bugs with no wings and eight legs. While they are rarely harmful to humans other than mild irritation to the skin or allergies, black mites in the house could signal elevated moisture levels or a more significant water issue. One of the most common types of mites is the Clover Mite.
If you see a tiny moving red dot, it is most likely a clover mite.
Thrips are tiny insects that can be clear to black in color and resemble seeds that are only 1/20 of an inch long.
Dry vacuuming doesn't pick up dust mites. Consider steam cleaning carpets when possible. In addition to cleaning the carpet, the heat of the steam kills dust mites. You can buy chemicals (ascaricides) that kill dust mites and that you can use on carpeting and furniture.
