Baffles. The baffles are the fins inside the drum that help tumble the laundry and enhance air circulation. You may need to tighten a loose baffle or replace one if it's broken or comes off.
Hoover Appliance Contractor here: I wouldn't recommend that you continue to use the dryer without the front felt seal.
The baffles are the sets of “fins” inside your dryer drum, there are usually three or four of them spaced around the interior. They help with the airflow and to fluff up your clothes while the dryer is tumbling. They do this by lifting clothes off the side of the dryer and into the airflow.
Replacing the rollers in a dryer averages $100 to $150. The rollers sit behind your dryer's back panel and hold the drum in place to rotate smoothly. Most machines require two rollers. If they break or wear down, you may hear unpleasant noises coming from the appliance.
Maintaining your dryer's bearings is essential for ensuring its smooth and efficient operation. By following the steps you can replace worn or defective bearings and prolong the lifespan of your dryer, saving on potential repair costs and avoiding inconvenience.
When the rollers (and the axles they spin on) are damaged, broken, or worn flat, they can squeak, squeal, and even thump. If your rollers and axles look worn out, loose, or don't spin freely, it's time for new ones. Even if one axle is the problem, it's best to replace all of them.
Your dryer comes with three or four fins around the drum interior called baffles. These are charged with aiding in air circulation and fluffing your clothing as they tumble. However, if a baffle is loose, it can manifest itself as noise or may even snag and rip your clothes.
To find out if this is the problem, open the dryer door, reach in, and attempt to turn the big circular tumbler—the drum—by hand. If it turns too easily, the belt has probably snapped and needs to be replaced.
Look for signs of wear and damage. With your dryer's cabinet opened, before you remove the drum, and with the belt tension removed, you can spin your dryer drum by hand to get a good look at the entire seal. Any badly worn seal will need to be replaced.
Using the dryer with a wet lint filter may cause mould, bad odours, or a decrease in drying performance. If the filter surface is wet, allow it to completely dry before use. Inserting the filter while it is wet can cause mould and/or odour to form and/or result in less drying.
While it is possible to use a dryer without a vent pipe, it is not advised. Lint buildup in your dryer, a potential fire risk, will occur without a vent hose or duct. Additionally, all gas dryers release the dangerous gas carbon monoxide. Electric dryers can also release harmful gases if the lint catches fire.
Like cars, the most expensive part of a dryer is any electrical component, specifically the control board. For newer dryers, this single part, excluding the labor required to replace it, can easily be worth more than half the price of a new unit.
For gas dryers, issues with the gas supply, flame sensor, gas valve coils, thermostats, fuses, or igniters can lead to heating failures; for electric dryers, problems with the heating element, thermostats, thermal fuses, or control boards may cause similar issues, with DIY repair options available for those confident ...
Some dryer vent installations also have an external lint trap, which is also known as a secondary dryer lint trap or a 4″ In-Line Dryer Lint Trap.
Dryer felt seal replacement cost
Dryer felt seal replacement costs $150 to $350 installed. The technician removes and cleans the drum to apply special adhesive, so this job takes up to 2 hours total. This essential seal stops the spinning drum from rubbing against the metal dryer frame.
If the seal is compromised, your drum may not turn as smoothly and can become quite noisy as it scrapes along the dryer housing. Do not use your dryer without the drum seal, as this leaves the drum vulnerable to serious damage.
This may occur if the Dryer drum slides are worn or a felt seal is mispositioned or defective. This requires a repair to fix the situation.
Use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean the evaporator fins behind the filter by brushing them upwards and downwards. Or use protective gloves to clean it by hand – be careful, as evaporator fins can be sharp. If the evaporator is dry, you can use a vacuum cleaner in the same up-and-down motions.

Dryer Drum Glides
Over time, they can wear, causing the drum to sag toward the front. This creates a pinch point at the top of the drum, which can tear clothes. If you suspect this to be the case, you'll need to remove the drum and replace the entire set of glides.
Dryer drum rollers do require proper lubrication to keep your dryer from squeaking, but accessing the parts requires the help of a professional.
If it is worn out or can no longer maintain tension, you will likely hear a loud scraping sound as the drum spins on the worn-out seal. If you have noticed that your clothes are taking longer to dry and the air around your dryer is warm, this is a sign that the drum seal is indeed the cause of the scraping noise.
If you continue to use a dryer with a worn drum bearing, you could end up burning out the motor.
