Black Diamond Coatings recommends a combination of both a sprayer and a roller. To truly be a Paver Whisperer, you must make sure the sealer is applied evenly to the surface. Using the spray technique and back rolling any puddles will result in a smoother application and a smoother finished product.
We recommend using low-pressure sprayers when applying a paver sealer to your surface. You can use a general sprayer or a garden one with a fan tip to evenly spread the sealer on the surface. A 3/8 nap roller can be used, however it is important to not apply too much.
As long as you apply the paver sealer on a windless day, the coverage can be generous and effortless. If you really can't get a pump up garden sprayer, opt for a sponge-type roller to apply the sealer. A nap roller is more likely to grab and trap your joint sand.

Solvent resistant pump-up sprayers are more suitable for solvent base sealers and can equally be used for water base sealers. These sprayers are equipped with Viton seals and gaskets and metal, brass or Teflon tips. Some manufacturers refer to these solvent resistant sprayers as Curing Compound Sprayers.
Curing Time
If the sealer is not cured correctly, water can cause white marks or stains on your pavers and can even be trapped beneath the layer of sealer. It is very important not to walk or drive on sealed pavers at least 24-48 hours after application.
Apply the sealer with a paint roller in 2 very thin and even coats. Do not apply in straight lines, but rather more like when painting, going back and forth and in different directions, overlapping and smoothing out. Allow to dry between coats until completely clear, including in any cracks, and no longer sticky.
Should Pavers Be Dry Before The Sealing Proccess? Yes, it is important to ensure that your pavers and your pool deck are dry before applying sealer. If they are wet, the sealer will not be able to adhere properly and could eventually peel off and cause damage to the pavers.
You pressure clean the pavers, re-sand the paver joints and then apply two coats of your favorite paver sealer and the job was complete.
Your concrete pavers will look better than new. 5 gal. bucket covers approximately 500 sq. ft.
Choosing to seal your pavers will keep your color consistent and un-faded. Not only does choosing to seal your pavers keep the color untouched, but it can also increase the vibrancy of your colors. One largely agreed upon benefit of sealers is that they limit stains.
But if you want to drive on it, then you have to wait a minimum of 12 hours for it to dry and cure. If it's overcast or if rain is in the forecast, then the drying and curing process will definitely take much longer. For optimum results, we recommend that you use your driveway 48 to 72 hours after sealcoat was applied.
SEAL-ONCE products can be applied using a synthetic brush or stain pad. For faster application, a pump sprayer with a 0.015-0.017 tip can be used.
What is the best way to apply Thompson's® WaterSeal® cleaners? The fastest way to apply is with a pump-up sprayer (using a coarse setting), but you can also apply with a brush or a roller. You should apply liberally.
Much like paint, sealer applied in 2 thin coats dries and cures much better than with 1 thick coat.
In some cases, a residential driveway will only need one coat of sealant. However, if the asphalt sealcoating has never been sealed before, it may take a second coat to give it the rich, deep finish that most homeowners prefer.
Acrylic sealant sprays often feel dry to the touch after 15 minutes, but do not fully cure for two hours. If you start handling the piece extensively just because it feels dry, you can interrupt the curing process and cause it to remain sticky longer as it interacts with the warmth, oils and moisture of your hands.
Understandably, some will think this indicates the blocks are in some way faulty, sub-standard or iffy, but that's not necessarily the case. The cause for this visible difference in appearance is most commonly* a variation in the concrete used to make the blocks.
If there is any moisture on the surface when you seal your patio, the sealant will often react with the moisture and turn a milky colour which is known as 'blooming' and ruin the slabs - so please ensure the slabs are bone dry. Whilst the blooming process is reversible, it's best avoided where possible!
Wait 4 hours before applying a second coat. Really rough surfaces might need an extra coat. COVERAGE Thompson's Patio & Block Paving Seal will cover approximately 6-8 m² per litre. Coverage will vary depending on the texture & type of the surface you're coating.
