Rule 1. The metal. Always make sure the area which you wish to solder is clean, dry and free from grease. lf necessary clean the area with a solvent (MEK, Mek Pak, Plasticweld or generic equivalents).

The ideal method of terminating an Anderson lead is to crimp the contact in place with the Anderson Power Products 1309G4 Crimp Tool. We use this tool on all of our cable assemblies because it creates a secure, single-indent crimp which will remain unaffected by vibration which can weaken solder joints.
Application: For quick and efficient installations, crimping is often preferred. If durability and enhanced conductivity are critical, soldering may be the better choice. Skill Level: Crimping is generally more straightforward and requires less skill than soldering.

There is a 5 ball rule check in Valor Process process, which requires that there must fit at least 5 solder ball in the stencil aperture width, based on the solder powder type. This is an important solder paste check, which is missing in Valor NPI.
Too tight a crimp may improve electrical performance up to a point, but can damage the terminal body or wire strands, causing a reduction in crimp tensile strength and/or vibration resistance.

You want the strands to be as dense and tightly packed as possible with a slight factory twist before the crimp, but you don't want to overdo it. If the wires are deformed from a twist or kink, it'll negatively affect the crimp's quality and the connection.
