Powders are being discontinued as High Efficiency washers replace the old ones. Less water means the powder doesn't always dissolve very well.

We all have seasonal and other allergies so the fact that this doesn't have a bunch of smelly perfumes is great for my whole family. Also gets everything nice and clean and reasonably priced compared to other brands.
America's favorite detergent, Tide, has every laundry detergent you need - whether it's HE detergent or Tide PODS® with Febreze. For over 75 years, we have been committed to changing the way laundry is done while always delivering the hardest working laundry detergents.
But our tests of dozens of laundry detergents show there are significant differences from one formula to the next. Some detergents are effective at getting clothes clean while others barely clean better than running a wash cycle using nothing but water.
all Free Clear is the #1 recommended detergent brand by dermatologists, allergists and pediatricians for sensitive skin. 100% free of perfumes and dyes, all Free Clear is Tough on Stains, Gentle on Skin.
Purex is well-liked for its affordability. Our testing showed that you get what you pay for with this product. It came in second to last in stain removal testing. We found that result surprising, since the same people that make Persil, our top performer, makes Purex.
Purex® offers powerful yet gentle liquid laundry detergents for sensitive skin that won't cause irritation.

The chemical byproduct, 1,4-Dioxane, is present in many popular laundry detergents. In recent tests, Arm & Hammer Clean Burst, Tide Original, Arm & Hammer Sensitive Skin Free & Clear, and Gain Original + Aroma Boost all contained more than 3 PPM of 1,4-Dioxane, over the NY State limit.

"It's never an easy choice to discontinue a product, but the demand just wasn't there for Free & Gentle in a powder," Tide responded. If I'm doing an easy load that doesn't require any extra care, I'll toss in pods. For items that come home dirtier than usual, it's time for a tougher bio detergent probably in pod form. Remember, fabric softener is completely optional, and your garments will likely pop out of the dryer feeling fresh, clean, and soft without it. However, “For some, it might make doing their laundry a little more fun to use an extra product that smells very good and is colorful,” Fulford says.
Tide Simply is a value version of Tide that includes less cleaning ingredients to help lower the cost while still providing a very solid clean.
Persil, introduced by the German company Henkel in 1907 was the world's first laundry powder. The name derives from perborate and silicate, two key components in the product. Persil was introduced as an improvement over the action of soap, the traditional cleaning agent first formulated around 1500 BC.
I have seen a study that said Persil is 2% better so, I might be influenced by that study. If I didn't have to consider price, I would prefer Persil because the smell of the washed clothese is (in my opinion) better than Tide. But price is a consideration and therefore, Tide is the clear winner based on value.
Use hot water (60 C) and your regular detergent for infected laundry. Lower temperatures will not kill the fungus and can transfer spores to other fabrics in the same load. For white cotton socks, you can use chlorine bleach along with the hot water to disinfect the fabric.
Avoid sharing socks and shoes with those that have the infection. Do I need to throw away my shoes if I have Athlete's foot? No, there are steps you can take to disinfect your shoes.
FONGEX® will kill common bacterial infections such as impetigo as well as yeast infections notably Thrush or candidiasis (Candida albicans).
