Pine Sol is a bit acidic, it'll clean floors but is harsh on the finish. Concentrated Pine Sol can strip paint and other finishes. A pH neutral product like Bona suggested by others is really much better to use if one wants their floors to last.
A mixture of 1 part Chlorine Bleach, (Clorox) to 32 parts water (½ cup bleach per gallon of water, or 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water) will need to sit on surfaces for 5-10 minutes in order to disinfect them. We found this did not harm either of our wood finishes.
A: We do not recommend using Pine-Sol® Original Multi-Surface Cleaner on aluminum, copper or marble surfaces. We also do not recommend using Pine-Sol® Cleaners on cars, on dishes or as a pet shampoo.
Pine-Sol is a highly alkaline cleaner, and while this makes it great for cutting through grease, it can damage the finish on hardwood floors, leading to premature wear and tear. Mixing Pine-Sol with other cleaners could even exacerbate this.
Once the surface is wet with the Pine-Sol, let stand for 10 minutes, and then rinse or wipe off with water. If your surface is heavily soiled or dirty, remove excess dirt first before applying the product. When I say my surfaces are CLEAN clean, I mean it.
Most dirty wood furniture can be brought back to life with any basic neutral pH wood furniture cleaner like Mr. Clean or Fabuloso, some warm water, and a stack of microfiber towels. Just mix according to directions, then use one microfiber towel to scrub and another to dry.

Deep Cleaning Your Baseboards
Use a simple solution of ¼ cup Pinesol or other all-purpose cleaner, mixed in a bucket with a gallon of water. Now simply wipe the baseboard with a damp microfiber cloth. For extra grimier baseboards, such as those in your kitchen or living rooms, you may need some extra scrubbing power.
White vinegar is considered by many to be the best homemade cleaner for wood floors. After diluting it with water, you can use it to clean almost every room of the house. To clean your wood floors with water and vinegar, do the following: Mix one part vinegar with three parts water.
Q: Can Pine Sol be safely used on hardwood floors, including engineered hardwood? A: While Pine Sol is a popular household cleaner, using it on hardwood floors, especially engineered hardwood, may not be recommended as it can leave a residue that could potentially damage the finish over time.
Effectiveness: Pine Sol contains pine oil, which is known for its strong scent. This scent can act as a deterrent for certain pests, such as ants, spiders, and cockroaches. However, it may not be as effective against all types of critters.
🐜Try this hack! 😍 Grab a bar of Irish Spring soap, the original smell is the best, but I only could find the scent at the shop, rub it on all exterior door, frames, and windows. Bugs will be repelled from your doors and avoid entering your home!
Apply Original Pine-Sol® full-strength or diluted 1:8 with water (1 cup cleaning solution with ½ gallon of water) on hard, nonporous surfaces with a clean sponge or cloth. Wet the surface, let it stand for 10 minutes, and then rinse. Dilution is also effective when using the concentrated formula.
It sounds odd, but liquid dish soap is great for cleaning your lightly soiled decks. Just like it's safe to use on your delicate dishes, the dish soap will be safe on your stained deck. It's gentle on the stain and doesn't leave any residue after rinsing.
Surfaces to avoid with Dawn® Powerwash:
Wood, including unsealed, varnished, stained, or painted wood surfaces & furniture. Safe on wood cutting boards if rinsed. Glass with UV coatings or other specialty treatments.
To clean wood furniture, you can use an all-purpose spray designed for wood or make a solution yourself, says Cohoon. In a bowl, mix warm water and a few drops of dish soap. Dip a microfiber cloth in the solution and wring it out so it's damp.
Do NOT clean your floors with Murphy's Oil Soap, Mop and Glo, Orange Glo, Swiffer Wet Mop, furniture polish such as Pledge, vinegar, ammonia, or any pine cleaners! All of these cleaners, over time, will dull and damage the finish.
