It's important to note Pergo flooring is laminate flooring, which is different than LVP.
Pergo - Vinyl Plank Flooring - The Home Depot.
Pergo invented laminate floors to add durability and beauty to any room. Tough and hardwearing, they are perfect for playing with the kids, rolling around with the dog, or dancing to a great beat. Our laminate floors are all super durable and ready for whatever life throws at them.
There are three main types of vinyl flooring: LVT (luxury vinyl tile), LVP (luxury vinyl plank), and sheet vinyl.
Firstly, it can be difficult to install and may require professional help. Secondly, vinyl plank flooring is not as durable as other types of flooring such as hardwood or tile. It is also prone to scratching and denting from heavy furniture or objects being dragged across the surface.
Luxury vinyl plank flooring is designed to resemble wood or stone, and it usually comes in plank-shaped pieces that are clicked or glued together. Standard vinyl flooring, on the other hand, is usually sold in rolls, and it often has a printed pattern that simulates the look of wood or tile.
Tip. Pergo laminate flooring must never be waxed, polished, sanded or refinished. Difficult spots like nail polish, markers, tar and cigarette burns can be removed with acetone or nail polish remover.
Expected lifespan of laminate floors
On average, laminate flooring can last 15 to 25 years with proper care and maintenance. However, some higher-quality laminate floors can last even longer, potentially up to 30 years.
Buckling is almost always as a result of water or moisture damage. Moisture tends to seep into the fiberboard core and swells it. This causes the board to push against the adjacent board, forcing it to curl upward.
We advise to always use a Pergo underlay. They are specially designed to offer excellent sound reduction, thermal resistance and levelling. The choice of a Pergo underlay will make sure the installation goes much smoother.

Laminate flooring was invented in 1977 by the Swedish company Perstorp, and sold under the brand name Pergo. They had been making floor surfaces since 1923.
Many homeowners prefer the look of laminate to that of vinyl. Although both flooring types come in a range of styles, colors, and patterns, laminate often features more realistic imagery and embossing.
Pergo laminate floors are built with Scandinavian aesthetics and simplicity for people who love to be active. Scratch resistant and able to withstand wear and tear, they are the perfect floors to play on with the kids, dance to the beat, or move furniture.
Unless you are a quick draw on the mop; dog urine will damage laminate flooring, real wood flooring, engineered wood and tile grout. Unfortunately with a lot of flooring the pee will be absorbed into the floor itself or underneath and this is what can make the issue very difficult and expensive.
Ceramic and porcelain tiles are the most popular choices for durable flooring as they're made from dense materials that hold up well against wear and tear. With its natural resistance to water, porcelain is a great option for bathrooms or kitchens.
Use Pergo Floor Cleaner -- just follow the directions. Use a Swiffer Wet Jet with the regular Swiffer Cleaner (not the Swiffer Cleaner for hardwood floors). Don't use the wet jet to spray the liquid. Just dampen the Swiffer cloth with the Swiffer Cleaner and go over the floor.
Laminate flooring is not waterproof, which means that it is susceptible to water damage. If water gets underneath the flooring, it can cause the planks to swell, warp, or buckle. This can result in unsightly gaps, a wavy appearance, or even a complete failure of the flooring.
Once planks are cut during installation, this protection is removed from the cut edges. Therefore, either the waterproof quarter round for WetProtect floors or perimeter sealing with 100% silicone sealant is required to maintain the Pergo Elements Preferred spill protection.
LVP is definitely the nicer option, and is just as durable. LVP will look more like wood than laminate flooring does. If you're trying to decide on flooring for your home and want the durability of LVP or Laminate but the look of wood – I suggest LVP.
The average cost to install 1,000 square feet of vinyl flooring is between $2,000 and $7,000 for standard vinyl planks and between $3,000 and $10,000 for luxury vinyl planks. Adding in labor costs brings the total to between $5,000 and $20,000.
Luxury vinyl planks (LVP) are usually designed to simulate the look of wood, as is most laminate flooring, while luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) are usually designed to simulate stone or ceramic tiles. The newest forms of luxury vinyl are amazing and both look and feel like wood or stone.
