Installing one laminate flooring over another can cause more costly problems to fix over time. For this reason, we always recommend removing the existing laminate before installing a new one.
You cannot put laminate over laminate. You're basically putting a moving floor over a moving floor.
It can be done on any laminate surface, and in just about any colour. The process involves the removal of the old surface, cleaning and de-greasing the substrate, applying adhesives and then laminating on a new surface.
You can install the new laminate right over the old stuff as long as the old stuff is in good shape and stuck down well. Rough up the old surface by sanding the old surface then apply contact cement to both the back of the new laminate and the top of the old laminate as you would if this was a new install.
You may be dealing with an older item that is starting to peel. If so, you could send it through your laminator a second time. Before you do that, cut the old plastic film's edges as close to your paper as possible. Ensure that the product is also dry and clean.
Laminate flooring is a floating floor
This means that you essentially have two floating floors for installing one laminate flooring over another. You will now be dealing with issues of one or both floors start shrinking, expanding, or gap.
Did you know that you can laminate more than one sheet at a time? No, they won't stick together! Some laminating pouches come with a special slip – a cover to put the sheets in – but you can laminate more than one sheet at a time without it!

How do you keep laminate floors from separating while installing? Keeping laminate floors from separating comes down to acclimation. Ensure the planks adjust to the room's temperature and humidity levels properly. After settling for a couple of days, everything should be fine.
PVA is ideal for tackling different laminating situations, from kitchen tops to wooden flooring. Also, because PVA bonds to many other materials, you can use this adhesive on alternative jobs as it is versatile and adaptable.
Using a carpet cleaner on laminate floors is not recommended, as laminate is susceptible to water damage. Carpet cleaners typically use water, which can seep into seams and edges, causing swelling and warping of the laminate.

Once upon a time, Formica laminate was the only option for kitchen countertops. Then, it fell out of favor with homeowners as granite soared in popularity. But as with many previous trends, Formica is back.
Laminate Countertops Are Very Easy to Damage
As mentioned earlier, laminate countertops sheets are made from plastic and particleboard or kraft paper. These are not durable materials. One consequence of this is that laminate countertops crack remarkably easily, especially around the edges.
Vinyl has come a long way when it comes to style choices in recent years, though. You can find vinyl flooring that realistically mimics not only the look but also the feel of stone, tile, and even wood floors. Vinyl also has a longer lifespan and better overall durability than laminate.

Inconsistencies in levelness and flatness of the floor surface could create stress points for locking joints and that will cause problems later on. Laminate: Not recommended under floating floors. Instead, take up all of the old laminate flooring.
The entire process is relatively mess-free (as far as kitchen remodels go) and only takes about a day. But the best part is that overlaying laminate countertops is much more cost-effective than a complete replacement.
Double lamination might create bubbles.
Over time however, it was discovered that lamination is in fact destructive. Not only does the application of high heat and pressure damage documents, laminate plastics will also "off-gas," causing a chemical reaction with materials sealed inside.
Peeling or delamination occurs when there is inadequate adhesion between the laminate and the material. This can be resolved by ensuring that the laminating film is compatible with the material. Check and adjust the temperature settings on the laminator to match the specifications of the laminating film.
