Do not lay on top of it as this is the worst thing you can do to your down comforter. The weight from your body crushes the down clusters and winds up gradually grinding the fibers into dust. Just 26% of people ages 18 to 34 make their bed with a top sheet, compared to 30% of those ages 35 to 54 and 43% of people ages 55 and over. Another bedding company, Parachute, explains that internal data reveals about 40% of Americans don't use a top sheet.
Clothes cover most of the body during the day, and being naked while sleeping is a good way to let air through your private parts, armpits, groin, and other areas in the body where air and sunlight don't get to shine. Since air can freely pass through, this allows lesser chances of catching skin disease.

The optimal sleeping orientation is south, with the head pointing south. Make sure that there's no beam over the bed. While staying in one location, the guest should experience positive sensations and energy.
Although top sheets prevent your comforter from getting dirty, the widespread use of duvet covers has made them somewhat obsolete. Either way you choose to go, make sure your bedding is soft, comfortable, customized to your liking — and regularly washed.

A bottom sheet goes on first when making a bed. If your bottom sheet is fitted, simply slip the corner pockets onto the ends of the bed and adjust the fitted sheet around the perimeter of the mattress, atop the mattress pad. If your bottom sheet is flat, create hospital corners.

A comforter is ready to use once you buy it — it does not need a duvet cover or cover of any kind. However, you can use a duvet cover on a comforter if you wish. Some people will do this if they want to protect their comforter from getting dirty. A comforter can work as the insert for the duvet.
You can introduce a comforter from the age of six months. Stick to one comforter, ideally one that is washable (and get a spare!)
