It's a good idea to toss a few ice cubes down the drain every other week to make sure debris isn't building up on your disposal blades.
There are two types of ice packs; gel ones and water ones. The water ones can go down the drain and the gel ones you can keep for traveling or anything or you can even donate them/give to friends. The gel is super bad for your pipes as well as the environment if disposed of improperly.
Frigid temperatures can freeze ice within your pipes. When water freezes, it expands, so not only will ice clog your pipes, but it could actually burst your pipes as well.
