Flex Seal Liquid MAX is a self-leveling product, so as you're putting it on a surface, it may look like a rougher texture, but it will begin to smooth out.
Flex Tape forms a super strong bond with itself, so if you're patching a pool, it's best to first apply Flex Tape to the interior side of the pool wall and then place a second piece of Flex Tape to the exterior. Remember to cut your Flex Tape larger than the area of the leak.
We do not recommend using Flex Seal on foam. Some foams may react poorly with Flex Seal, and may warp or dissolve. We also do not recommend using it in situations where it is subjected to high heat or pressure (such as engine radiators) or gas tanks. We do not recommend the use of Flex Seal spray on vinyl.
Depending on the environment, coats added, and maintenance, many people have found Flex Seal will last for years without cracking, peeling, or losing any of its strength or sealing properties.
Tips for Best Results
Whether you brush, roll, dip, or pour, we always recommend applying Flex Seal Liquid in even coats and allowing 24 hours between coats. If you press it and it's soft, it's not dry yet. Allow 48 hours to completely dry.
Flex Seal Spray can then be painted over with almost all commercially available paints and urethanes. Flex Seal Liquid cannot be top coated with anything other than Flex Seal Liquid, however, you can add as many coats as you like. Just allow Flex Seal Liquid to fully dry between coats.
A: It's always best to apply Flex Seal Liquid on a clean, dry surface free of grease and oil. If applied during heavy rain, some of the product may wash away. Therefore, we recommend applying it 24 hours prior to any heavy rain, hail, or snowfall (if possible).
There are a number of popular handyman and home repair websites that suggest using Flex Seal on PVC. However, most are careful to note that Flex Seal is only a temporary fix in these applications. In short, it won't hold for long.
Generally, it can last for several years when applied properly and used in environments that don't involve extreme wear and tear. For optimal performance, it's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding preparation and application.
However we have Flex Seal Liquid that comes in Gallons each gallon covers approximately 150 square feet and depending on how thick you roll or pour it you will need 3-5 gallons on your Shop roof.
Flex Seal floated our boat, and Teddy stayed dry. But with other uses, we hit rough seas. It took three coats of Flex Seal to plug the pipe holes, and larger holes blew out under water pressure. Even three coats didn't seal vertical sections of our gutter's end caps and joints: The product dripped down.
A: Flex Seal Liquid is mildew resistant.
3. Flex Seal will only be a temporary solution to a roof leak. I understand saving money where you can by doing a DIY roof repair is tempting. But using Flex Seal to repair a roof leak is just a temporary solution.
Over time, traditional caulking products can break down and deteriorate, leaving areas in your bathroom susceptible to costly water damage. Flex Shot can last up to 30 years and will not fade, dry, crack, yellow, or deteriorate, making it an excellent choice for caulking your bathroom!
Flex Seal dries to a watertight, flexible, rubberized coating. Depending on temperature and humidity, it will dry to the touch within 2-3 hours of application and fully cure in 24 hours-48 hours.
I have used Flex Seal to close up cracks in concrete. However if the surface you apply the Flex Seal to is "granular" and flaking off, the Flex Seal will not stick to it. Keep in mind that Flex Seal is a coating, not a bonding agent.
Flex Shot will fill larger holes and can be used as a caulking where as Flex Seal is sprayed on and can cover a larger surface to make it completely waterproof. You may need several coats of Flex Seal to make the surface completely waterproof, but Flex Shot is a one time rubber bead that can be built up.
Once dry, Flex Seal's watertight, rubberized coating can withstand water, heavy rains, snow, and more. Flex Seal can be applied to a wet surface or moist environment in the event of an emergency. However, it will always adhere better to a clean, dry surface.
If the Flex Seal is still wet, it can be removed with a dry cloth or paper towel. If the Flex Seal is cured/dry, it can be removed with acetone, denatured alcohol, or mineral spirits.
When layering our products, it's best to put Flex Seal Liquid on top of Flex Seal Liquid or Flex Seal spray on top of Flex Seal spray. You may have used our products together; however, we always recommend testing first, as different surfaces may have different results.
A: Flex Seal Liquid can be poured to any thickness desired.
Why is my Flex Seal still sticky? Flex Seal usually becomes dry to the touch within 2-3 hours and fully cured within 24-48 hours. If your Flex Seal still feels sticky or tacky after application, it may not be fully cured. Please note that dry times can vary due to temperature, humidity, and thickness of the coat.
Unfortunately, we do not recommend painting over Flex Seal Liquid as paints will not adhere to it.
