Whether or not installing the floor through Costco is worth it depends on the buyer's expectations. If they are looking for a reasonably priced, solid-quality option that is easily accessible, then purchasing flooring from Costco can be a great choice.
Again: Costco laminate may be worth purchasing if it's at the right price point for you. But as always, we'd recommend shopping around. Why? If you want great floors—and we're not talking about the best laminate flooring products money can buy, either—you're not going to find them at a box store.
The best flooring for resale value: The ROI on wood floors
They're durable, versatile, and most buyers love them. According to real estate experts, the average ROI for installing hardwood floors is about 70% to 80%, and wood floors can boost the sales price of your home as much as 2.5%.
Pro: LVP Is Affordable
Plus, luxury vinyl flooring is much cheaper to maintain and keep clean, unlike carpet that harbors dirt, dust, and other disgusting things and will require replacement more often. And, even more, money savings can be appreciated if able to install right on top of an existing floor.
Per the general policy, you can return items you ordered at a store or online. For in-person purchases at the warehouse, you can take your flooring and membership card -- no receipts needed -- to the returns counter, where the employee can process the return. Items ordered online can also be returned this way.
Costco offers two brands of waterproof vinyl flooring, Mohawk Home and Golden Arowana, both of which are rigid core luxury vinyl floorings with some mixed reviews. The selection may be limited, but the price per square foot ($2.89) makes it more affordable than many leading vinyl plank flooring brands.
There's no return window for most purchases, including flooring, so you don't have to worry about a time limit.
Vinyl is a soft material: One of its advantages is also its greatest weakness: its lightness. Heavy furniture can dent and mark vinyl floors, while sharp objects can pierce the upper layers. Discolouration: LVT flooring can suffer from sun damage if laid in conservatories or near south-facing doors/windows.
Vinyl plank flooring has a few potential downsides. Firstly, it can be difficult to install and may require professional help. Secondly, vinyl plank flooring is not as durable as other types of flooring such as hardwood or tile.
While costs are similar, the value of premium vinyl far exceeds that of laminate based on quality and value. Unlike laminate, premium vinyl is durable and stable, resistant to moisture and climate, and is easy to install and maintain. Laminate is restricted to light traffic and low moisture applications.
LVP flooring is waterproof, less expensive, and faster and easier to install than wood or tile. Even the high-end residential market discovered LVP floors last year. It works in wet areas such as bathrooms and laundry rooms as well as living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, and anywhere in the house except for stairs.
Greige and white oak are two of the most popular choices for hardwood flooring when it comes to house resale. They provide timeless elegance and neutrality, making them ideal for any home.
No. 1 Common Grade – Characterized by prominent color variation as well as prominent (but limited in size) character marks such as knots and open checks, as well as variations resulting from drying and machining processes. This grade results in a tasteful floor where prominent variation is to be expected.
Cannot be refinished: Due to its composite construction and wear layer, a laminate floor can never be refinished. Once it has been damaged or worn out, laminate flooring must be replaced.

Not moisture-proof
Being made of wood, laminate flooring is not impervious to the effects of moisture. Therefore, it's not suitable as a hard flooring for bathrooms and should be used with caution in kitchens or laundries. Light surface water for cleaning shouldn't cause issues, but saturation must be avoided.
Manufacturing vinyl flooring requires the use of toxic chemicals, and after installation, vinyl floors have been known to emit VOCs (volatile organic compounds). Off-gassed VOCs can adversely affect health and an indoor environment, particularly without windows or ventilation, will lead to higher concentrations.
Although both flooring types come in a range of styles, colors, and patterns, laminate often features more realistic imagery and embossing. In general, homeowners tend to choose laminate over vinyl for more visible spaces in their homes, such as entryways, living rooms, and dining rooms.
Vinyl plank flooring offers excellent durability
The excellent scratch resistance you'll find in LVP flooring comes from a protective wear layer that also protects against stains, scuffs, dents, and other forms of daily wear. It's the perfect option for busy rooms, especially with pets and children in the home.
LVP vs. LVT. LVP comes in a plank shape and often offers the look of real hardwood with realistic scraping or embossing. LVT comes in the traditional tile squares, features more stone and concrete looks, includes surface texture for a lifelike look, and can even be installed with grout.
Luxury vinyl has seams between tiles or planks and so it is possible for water (though exceeding rare when installed by a professional) to seep through, giving standard sheet vinyl a very narrow edge over luxury vinyl for total water resistance. Both tolerate normal heat, such as direct exposure to sunlight.
Generally speaking, vinyl sheet flooring will last anywhere from 10 to 20 years, while vinyl plank and tile flooring will last 15 to 20 years. The thickness of its wear layer vastly impacts vinyl flooring's lifespan, so pay attention to this detail when purchasing your flooring.
It's not uncommon for members to return unused merchandise to Costco. Even if the member hasn't used the item, if any portion of the packaging has been opened, it can not go back on the sales floor. This unused merchandise will be part of Grade A/B liquidation.
Costco keeps track of merchandise as it comes back into the store and which member made the return. At some point, a member who habitually returns merchandise will be flagged. And once flagged, they may be operating on borrowed time.
The ground rule when it comes to Costco's refund policy is that you can basically return anything, at any time, no questions asked — with a few exceptions. The return policy applies to merchandise like computers, mattresses, TVs and even your membership.
