Corian® Solid Surface is a solid, nonporous, homogeneous surfacing material, composed of ~1/3 acrylic resin (also known as polymethyl methacrylate or PMMA), and ~2/3 natural minerals.
Corian and other solid surface countertop materials are fully synthetic products that are manufactured by mixing acrylic, epoxide, and polyester resins with various pigments and a filler material derived from natural bauxite, a sedimentary stone.
In terms of durability, Corian tends to be more easily damaged by hot surfaces than natural stone. It's also more prone to scratches than surfaces like quartz and granite.

Using white vinegar to clean your Corian countertops is ideal as the acidity of vinegar does not affect the Corian countertop like it does marble countertops. Baking soda is an optional, but recommended, ingredient to act as an abrasive, and lift the grime out of the surface.

Common Materials for Health Care and Hospital Countertops
Quartz is one of the least porous materials available for countertops, making it ideal for health care settings where sanitation is paramount.
Keep high temperature items off the countertop, as these can cause the material to expand and then crack when it reaches the cooler, solid material and has nowhere else to go. Use trivets and potholders for hot pans and spoons. Also, be careful putting down anything too heavy too quickly.
Solid Surface material, commonly known by the brand names Corian®, Swanstone, Staron®, Avonite Surfaces®, HI-MACS®, LivingStone®, STUDIO Collection®, and Wilsonart®, is a generic term for materials that are composed of two main ingredients: a natural mineral filler and a resin binder.
Corian® panels are branded on the underside and edge with a serial number and DuPont™ logo. After the material has been worked, it can be difficult to find these markings, though every original product is accompanied by documentation demonstrating its authenticity.
Price: Per square-foot, marble is one of the most expensive countertop materials you can buy. It's far more expensive than butcher block, and even pricier than quartz or granite.
Mix a tablespoon of baking powder to a paste with warm water, and add a few drops of peroxide. Spread the mixture evenly over the stain and cover it with clingfilm. Leave overnight, and in the morning the stain should wipe away along with the baking powder. This method also works on worksurfaces.
If you are noticing that your Corian® sink is not as white as it once was, you can easily fix this with simple household bleach. It is recommended that you mix ½ cup of bleach with warm water to each sink bowl and let the solution sit for a minimum half an hour.
