Wash and Dry It Right

Preheat the area of your shirt where you will be ironing the vinyl on for about 15 seconds. Place your vinyl in the desired spot and lay the press cloth over it. Apply pressure with the iron for 30 seconds, and then pick the iron back up and place it down in the next area.
Clean Your Surface. The simplest way to keep your adhesive vinyl from peeling is to ensure the area you want to apply your decal to is clear of crumbs, dirt, or bumps.
Using your hands or your carrier sheet, lay the HTV to your desired location. Grab your Teflon sheet or the material of your choice and place it on top of the HTV. Apply steady pressure and heat using your heat press or the household iron. Peel the carrier sheet off.
Peeling or flaking is usually a sign of a delaminating bicast, bonded or faux leather and may be cost prohibitive to repair. Sometimes, however, peeling or flaking is just a damaged finish (paint) on real leather or vinyl that is easily corrected.
If the vinyl starts to peel off use an iron to reapply heat and pressure to the affected area only. Set your iron to a high temperature for this.
The hotter temperatures will soften the adhesive on the vinyl making the vinyl more susceptible to lifting/peeling. It is important to wash your vehicle during the winter months as well. The chemicals used on the roads to melt ice can damage the vinyl and cause it to fail.

Inadequate pressure is one of the biggest reasons why HTV peels off shirts.
Heat is one of the main culprits for causing logos to peel. Always wash your Nike gear in cold or lukewarm water to avoid heat damage.
Before you apply the vinyl, wipe down the surface with rubbing alcohol to clean it and let it dry. After you apply the vinyl, let the item sit undisturbed for 48 hours before washing or using.
Keep in mind that vinyl naturally has a long lifespan and you can extend it and keep the material looking new by applying ultraviolet ray protection products. UV ray protection helps keep your vinyl from drying out, cracking, and fading. Use a spray that is specially formulated for the marine industry.
Teflon Sheet
It is non-stick, so bits of heat transfer vinyl don't get stuck to your iron or your press, and they help protect your design so it doesn't melt to your press.
You can apply gentle heat to adhesive vinyl with a heat gun or hair dryer only when it needs fixing or is applied to a textured surface. It helps the vinyl conform to the grooves making it easier to remove the transfer tape.
