In the wash cycle: Only place one set of sheets in the washer at a time. Overloading the washing machine will not only create additional strain on the fabric, but your sheets will not be as clean.
Don't Overcrowd the Washer: Overcrowding can cause wrinkles and pilling, so wash each set of sheets individually and avoid combining your sheets with other laundry like towels.
A normal washer typically refers to a washer with a capacity of 3.0-3.5 cubic feet. As mentioned earlier, a 3.0 cubic foot washer can fit one king-size sheet, while a 3.5 cubic foot washer can fit one sheet and possibly some other smaller items.

If you overload the drum, there will be less water available for the detergent to dissolve in as the clothes will soak this up. We therefore recommend that you leave a hands width gap at the top of the washing machine drum when loading. This roughly equates to filling 3/4 of the drum.
To give you an idea of how much a typical load weighs, the following items all together weigh about 10 pounds: Seven pairs/sets of underwear. Seven pairs of socks. Five short-sleeve T-shirts.

General guide for bedding capacity
A 5 kg drum will accommodate sheets and towels for an individual or a household of two people. A 6 kg drum will hold a single duvet. A 7 kg drum can wash a double duvet or the towels and sheets for a small family.
Don't Wash Your Sheets and Towels Together. Overloading the washing machine
You can probably wash several sets of bedding together but don't cram more in.
Generally if your machine is half full, you have a medium load. A large load fills it up until three-quarters full, and anything above that is considered extra large.
The Good Housekeeping Institute says that your sheets should be changed at least once every two weeks. However, if you suffer with night sweats or allergies such as asthma, it's worth washing them weekly to get rid of any grime or potential irritants and keep your sleeping space fresh and clean.
In most cases, cold or cool water is a perfect setting for washing your sheets. It's also the best option for delicate fabrics, like silk. But even if your fabric isn't delicate, washing with cold water can help preserve the color of your bedding.
Even though some bed sheet materials can last you for many years, most experts recommend you to replace your bed sheets every 2-3 years. This is because, this is usually when visible signs of wear and tear occur. Even the quality of the sheets may have decreased by then and could affect your level of sleep comfort.
Ideally, you should wash your bedsheets every week. First, check the care label on your sheets. Wash them in cool or lukewarm water with two laundry detergent pods and dry them on low heat to preserve the fabric's integrity.
If you overload the washing machine, clothes won't be free to move around and get clean, because they can't be properly soaked in water and laundry detergent. Too many towels washed at once won't get clean, but too few means greater agitation for quicker wear and tear. Most front-loading washing machines can fit seven standard-size bath towels; top-loading washers can fit around nine or ten.
