Porcelain and vitrified tiles are both cost-effective flooring choices for any room. Not only are they fairly inexpensive compared to other types of flooring, but they are also easy to install and can last for many years with proper care.
Estimate the number of tiles you need by determining the square footage of the area you're tiling plus the square footage of each tile. For example, if you're adding a tile floor to a 100-square-foot bathroom, and each tile is 12″ x 12″ (one square foot), you'll need about 100 tiles.
Most boxes contain 10 square feet of tile, but this can vary. Divide the area of your room by the square footage provided by each box to calculate how many boxes you need.
If you only have 100 square feet of tile to install, you may need as few as 7-8 boxes of tile. But don't forget about the other products. You will need thinset cement to install 12×12 tile. And unless you are installing on concrete you will also need a tile underlayment.
12 x 24 Rectangular Tile Layout
However, when working with our now ever-popular rectangular tiles (12” x 24” is currently a popular size), I like to run the tiles in the exact opposite direction I would a wood floor, regardless of whether it's laid in a brick pattern, 1/3 offset or stacked.
A large tile, such as 12x24”, usually requires a 3/16” grout line, so it's best to check the manufacturer's recommendations to see how small you can go. Pressed tiles with a 1/16" grout line.
That means they are 12″x12″ in size – unless, of course, that measurement is a nominal one. In that case, those tiles are actually 11-7/8″ x 11-7/8″ in size.

WPC Vinyl tile
WPC stands for wood, plastic, and vinyl and this tile is very easy and simple to install. It and makes a good fit for bathroom flooring as it is also waterproof. This is in stark contrast to porcelain or ceramic tiles, which are very difficult to install.
If this is your first venture into a DIY project, we would recommend using ceramic or porcelain tiles. They are the easiest to install because they can be cut using dry manual tile cutters, creating minimal mess. The majority of ceramic and porcelain tiles will also not require any sealant.
