Proper tank sanitization doesn't happen immediately. Let your mixture of clean water and bleach sit in your tank and plumbing lines for 12-24 hours before draining it. If you start this process in the afternoon, just let it sit overnight and come back in the morning.
Let the water run until you can smell bleach coming out of each faucet. This ensures that the bleach solution has run all the way throughout your fresh water system. Now turn off all the faucets and let the bleach solution sit in the fresh water system for at least five hours, but no more than 10 hours.
Use 1/4-cup of liquid household bleach (sodium hypochlorite) for every 15 gallons of fresh- water tank capacity.

The most likely cause is anaerobic bacteria in your water heater. Your RV's water heating system usually comes equipped with a magnesium or aluminum anode rod, meant to prevent corrosion of your water tank.

Bleach solutions require a full 10 minutes of contact time to ensure complete disinfection. If bleach solution evaporates in less than 10 minutes, a greater volume of solution should be applied. 5. After disinfection with bleach solutions, surfaces should be rinsed and dried.
This will be different for everyone! We recommend leaving the bleach in the hair for 15-45 minutes. Because some people will experience their desired lift in less time, always check the hair every 5 minutes or so throughout the process.
Keep Several Inches of Water in the Toilet Bowl at All Times (unless driving) Water is a highly effective barrier against nasty black tank smells.
Draining the Tank
I want to emphasize the importance of draining your water heater and would recommend you draining it every time you're done camping, unless you are planning another trip in less than two weeks. I would also empty your fresh water tanks as well.
