The antimicrobial additive works to inhibit the growth of stain-causing bacteria and mildew in the polish*. Use every 2-4 months to keep floors revitalized and looking their best.
The Bona polish does not wear off completely, ever, and needs to be stripped to remove it completely.
Bona's range of specially-formulated polishes can be used several times a year. How often you use it will depend entirely on the amount of traffic your floor undergoes, but typical homeowner floor-maintenance is about every two-to-four months.
Hardwood floor polishing – every 2-4 months
Bona Hardwood Floor Polish works to fill up microscopic scratches while also reviving and refreshing the protective sealant that covers it.
Like Mega One, Bona always recommends a minimum of 2 coats of finish. Adding a third coat gives an added layer of protection that may be desired for some homeowners who are worried about scratches.
Polish works well on hardwood floors. If you haven't polished your floors in over a year like me, this works ok on adding some polish to the floor. I really like this for my hardwoods because it keeps them clean but also does not ruin them. A little goes a long way too, so for the price, it does last awhile.
Polish can be walked on with SOCKS on your feet after 1-2 hours. Allow 24 hours before resuming normal traffic, returning furniture and rugs, and allowing pets back to the floor. If desired, wait a full 24 hours before applying a second coat. Bona offers floor polishes and tools for hardwood, stone, tile and laminate.
One word of caution: Bona Hardwood Floor Polish is not a cleaning product and should not be used on polyurethane-coated flooring unless it is only to delay an inevitable complete sand and refinish.
Bona's proprietary formulation provides a complete clean by gently and effectively removing dust, dirt and grime. It's safe to use on any un-waxed, polyurethane finished wood floors. It dries very quickly and doesn't leave any film or residue.
Before using Bona, be sure to apply the sealer coat. After that, two coats is sufficient. Don't forget a scuff sand in between coats including the sealer. Bona is a water-based solution, so you will have a slight raising of the grain.
Bona Hardwood Floor Polish offers a protective formula that renews floors by filling in micro-scratches and scuffs, shielding against future wear and traffic, and adding a durable high gloss shine. The antimicrobial additive works to inhibit the growth of stain-causing bacteria and mildew in the polish*.
Why? Because the water still evaporates and the dirt is STILL left behind. The other point to remember: Bona is to be used 1-2 times per MONTH! The rest of the time it is water damp mop ONLY.
Bona Floor Polishes are made with a durable, urethane acrylic blend that helps to even out the look of your floors while adding the right level of shine. Our floor polishes dry fast and leave no waxy build-up when applied at the right frequently.
Since it doesn't need to be rinsed, diluted, or wiped off, it does all of the hard work for you. You just spray it on the area of the floor that needs a bit of shine or a bit more in-depth cleaning, and then wipe it with a microfiber mop or cloth. That's it.
The polyurethane-based formula provides superb protection, and it contains no wax, which means that it allows for future coats of finish. Important! Always test floors for adhesion and desired results before use.
Too much cleaning product. You do not finish the job. Too many scratches. Floors have wax buildup.
But vinegar should not be used as a hardwood floor cleaner because its acidity can lead to etching in the wood's surface. Avoid ammonia – Ammonia will discolor, deteriorate, and dull the finish. Using ammonia to clean a wood floor will take years off of its life.
Bona products are specially designed to protect floors and the environment. Bona cleaners won't dull your floors or leave behind any residue.
Damp mops work faster and capture residual dirt and grime your dust mop couldn't catch. Never use a traditional mop, as this could cause your wood to shrink and buckle. Instead, use a Bona spray applicator or a Bona mop with a refillable spray canister to clean your hardwood floors.
For oil-based polyurethane, it can take up to 24-48 hours for the finish to dry and up to 72 hours for the fumes to dissipate completely. Therefore, it is recommended that you stay out of your home for at least 72 hours after applying an oil-based polyurethane finish.
Lightly dampen a microfiber mop and always clean following the grain of the wood and allow the wood to dry completely before walking to prevent spotting. If you live in an area with hard water, damp mop with distilled water. The excessive minerals in hard water can leave the floor finishes looking dull.
