Although the batteries in your door & window sensors may have a shelf life of up to 10 years, when used in a device, battery life expectancy is up to 2 years. Increased use of a sensor will shorten the life of its battery.
We recommend changing all your wireless sensor batteries on an annual basis or as directed by your ADT Self Setup system. Note: Only CR123A batteries can be ordered through ADT. For all other batteries listed, you will need purchase one from an online or local retailer.
If a device is not working due to the battery running flat, your security and smoke detection system is at risk of being compromised. ADT strongly recommends that you replace the battery at your earliest convenience and that you use an ADT qualified Technician to service your system.

Check your alarm keypad to ensure it no longer displays the “BAT” or “SYSTEM LO BATTERY” message. If it still shows a low battery message, try entering your code and pressing the OFF button. Repeat if necessary. If the message still shows, it may take 24 to 48-hours for the battery to fully charge.

Beeping Keypads
If the keypad for your home alarm system starts beeping, it's a sign that the power supply is low and the battery might need to be replaced.
A low battery warning is most often displayed as BAT, LOW BATT or SYSTEM LO BAT on the touchpad. This warning signals that your battery is low and must be either recharged or replaced. ADT offers several battery-replacement options for our customers, including a self-service option on most systems and devices.

This can be caused by: weather changes causing the window frame to expand or narrow damage to the window movement of the sensor or magnet The window may not be completely closed. Not Activating The wires may have been damaged or pinched. If you have a wireless sensor, the battery may need replacing.
If so, the device will run on its backup battery for up to 24 hours, and you will get a low battery alert as it is depleted. If AC power is not restored before the battery dies, the device will power down.
