Allow the baking soda and vinegar combination to sit for at least 20 minutes. You might hear your toilet flush when the clog gets removed before the end of that time. If that happens, run the handle to refill the bowl and flush it for a second cycle.
Vinegar and baking soda are more than just baking ingredients; they're popular natural cleaning agents and can even work in sync to dislodge that clog. The fizzy reaction of baking soda and vinegar is often enough to shift blockages—without any frantic plunging on your part.
Another method is to begin, again, with the baking soda and then slowly pour a couple of cups of cleaning vinegar over the top. Watch the level of fizz because this is definitely a situation where the science fair volcano would not be desired. Let the mix sit for anywhere between two hours to overnight.
Hot Water and Dish Soap
Heat up a gallon of hot water on the stove and pour some dish soap into your toilet while the water is heating up. When the water is extremely hot, but not boiling, pour into the toilet carefully. Wait for 10-15 minutes while the dish soap and hot water soften the clog.
If the clog still seems to be intact, start over at step 1 and repeat the process a couple of times. For extra-stubborn clogs, you can let the fizz mixture sit overnight or combine this method with plunging.

Let It Sit For 12 Hours

Clean the P-Trap
If a kitchen or bathroom sink drain still smells after removing trapped hair and using the baking soda and vinegar, there may be something caught in the p-trap that's causing the odor.
