The most common causes are: The water fill tubes are blocked. The water inlet valve is blocked or frozen. The water filter is dirty or clogged.
You can remove the ice bin and use a hair dryer to try and thaw out the fill tube that fills the icemaker up with water located just above the icemaker, or you may need to unplug the refrigerator for 24 hours to let everything thaw out so that water can go through the tube and make it into the icemaker.
Leave the refrigerator unplugged for 5 minutes. This will allow the ice system to reset. After 5 minutes, replug the refrigerator and turn the switch back on. This should cause the ice maker to start working again.
Filter Clogs
Anything that regulates water flows to the ice maker can stop it from creating ice, especially if it becomes clogged.
Your freezer temperature could be too high, the water inlet valve may not be functioning correctly, your home water pressure may be low, the refrigerator's water filter may be clogged, or the ice maker may need to be replaced.
If your ice maker isn't producing ice at all or is producing crescents or cubes that are smaller than usual, it's typically indicative of a clog somewhere along the supply line. Cause: A common cause for a clog is frozen water in the line. Fix: To repair a frozen line, slide the refrigerator and unplug it.
To be sure the control arm is the problem, do a full Frigidaire ice maker reset. Depending on your model, you can perform a hard reset on your ice maker using the control panel. Hold the on/off button until the LED is red. Wait a couple of minutes and then hold the same button until it's green.
Icemaker Reset Procedure
Turn the icemaker Off for 15 seconds and turn it back On. Push in on the paddle 3 times and only 3 times within 15 seconds of powering the icemaker back on.
If the dispenser door motor is defective, the dispenser door won't open. As a result, the dispenser will not dispense ice. To determine if the motor is defective, first determine if the motor is getting power. If the motor is getting power, but it won't run, replace it.
Once it has been reset, it can take up to 24 hours for the ice maker to start creating ice again. For exact reset steps check your user manual. Please note: do not press the button multiple times as doing so can cause water to overflow the ice tray or ice to jam and damage the ice maker.
Your portable ice maker is not making ice out of thin air; it is freezing water to make ice cubes. So, if the ice maker is not receiving ample water to fill the trays—be it due to a malfunctioning water pump or a clogged water line—it will stop making ice.
Unplug the machine and wait 10 seconds. Plug the machine back in and press the ON button. You should see a blue light appear, letting you know that the machine has been reset.
Once the line is disconnected, pour 3-4 cups of vinegar with a small funnel into the line and let it soak for 5-10 minutes, clipping shut the open end of the line to avoid the vinegar from draining out. Rinse out the line with clean water before reconnecting the dispenser and ice maker.
Several problems can interfere with making ice properly or dispensing ice. The ice maker or dispenser could be jammed or broken, a dirty water filter or kinked water line could be blocking water flow or the water inlet valve could be clogged or faulty.
It's possible that Ice may be jammed. Ice could have melted and frozen around the auger due to infrequent use, temperature fluctuations, and/or power outages. Remove the ice bin, thaw and empty contents. Clean the ice bin (wipe/dry) and replace in proper position.
Some indicators may include odd tasting ice or water, slowly dispensed water, black specks in water or ice and, of course, limited to no ice production.
If you don't hear a chime, but you can see movement from the ice maker, then the ice maker was reset. If you don't hear a chime and there is no movement from the ice maker, unplug the fridge or turn it off at the circuit breaker for 2 minutes. Then, power it back up and try again.
If the water filter was just replaced or installed, ensure the filter was installed correctly. If the water filter is not seated properly, it can cause; no or low ice production and water not dispensing properly. Try removing the water filter and re-installing it.
Low water pressure or a clogged water filter can restrict water flow, slowing down the ice-making process. Dirty components. Over time, mineral deposits and debris can build up in the water lines or ice mold, which can prevent the ice maker from working properly. Faulty parts.
