Pour about 1 litre of undiluted white vinegar into (pouring around) the toilet bowl. Leave it to work its magic for 3-4 hours (so make sure you've had a wee before you start cleaning the loo!) Use more white vinegar to scrub the sides of the bowl, under the rim and down into the water.
For this cleaning task, the more, the merrier, pour vinegar (about 1 litre) and a few cups of bicarb will work fine. Give the solution a mix until you have a paste. Then, add it to the toilet bowl and leave it to soak for as long as possible, at least an hour.

Leave for 10 minutes then scrub vigorously with the abrasive side of a sponge to remove.

Muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) can remove limescale deposits. However, it is very corrosive, can be dangerous to the skin and eyes, and should not be inhaled. Use citric acid cleaning solutions.
