The regulator will have a screw or bolt and a locking nut system. Loosen the locking nut with a wrench and using quarter-turn increments, use a screwdriver to turn the screw counter-clockwise (to the left) to decrease water pressure, and clockwise (to the right) to increase water pressure.
Call your water company If you notice that your water pressure is immensely above the normal standards. When the force exceeds 100 psi or more, this could indicate a problem in the water supply network. It's the supplier's responsibility to make sure that your home receives normal levels of water.
High Pressure
Excessive water pressure can cause stress on your plumbing leading to leaks and burst pipes. If you hear banging from your pipes (known as a water hammer) this is a sure sign of high water pressure. It may mean that the water pressure from your supplier to your house is too high.

A pressure regulator is a type of safety valve used to control the pressure in your home's plumbing system. The regulator is fitted to the main water line entering your home and restricts the pressure to a safe level before it reaches the plumbing fixtures inside your home.
Adjust the Pressure-Reducing Valve
Protruding from the top of the valve is a threaded bolt. To raise pressure, loosen the bolt's locking nut, then turn the bolt clockwise. Use the pressure gauge to determine when you reach a water pressure around 50 PSI. Then, tighten the locknut to secure the valve.
This is false and all they are doing is just reducing the volume and flow into the property. Water pressure is the same no matter how much you have the water meter inlet tap turned on.
The most common cause of this is when the tap's O-ring becomes worn over time. This makes the tap harder to turn due to extra friction and for those without strong hands, a stiff tap can become impossible to use.
Please keep in mind that all new faucets since 1994 are restricted to conserve water per EPA code mandates. Older faucets had no restrictions. Beyond intentional flow restriction, new installations can sometimes have reduced flow if the lines are not flushed prior to installation of aerators or shower heads.

It is installed on the main water line. This is most commonly in the front flower bed, but it could also be behind an access panel in an inside wall. When the PRV goes bad, it can cause pressure and water flow issues, weird noises, or just start to leak.
Do All Homes Have a Water Pressure Regulator? No, and in some cases, you may not need one. Certain municipal supplies regulate their water pressure safely, but if that pressure runs above 80 psi, you'll want to protect your plumbing system by installing one.
Typically, if you have a water pressure regulator it will be installed directly after the main shut-off valve. If you cannot locate your main shut-off valve where the main line enters the home, then you should do a thorough inspection of the basement, garage, or crawlspace to find this valve.
