Use a specialist cleaner
Try a specialist cleaner like Wet & Forget, at Walmart, which you spray onto the surface of the paving and leave. It can also be used on steps, fountains, patio umbrellas and other smaller outdoor areas. It's bleach-free and non-acidic but will remove mold, moss and grime without any scrubbing.
There are useful tools for cleaning paving stones, such as joint scrapers, sweepers, and pressure washers. In addition, pavers can be cleaned with a small pickaxe, broom, and garden hose.
Regular dish soap dissolved in water is often enough to clean away everyday dirt and grime. Dissolve the soap in the same ratio as you would when washing dishes and then pour it along those outside pavers. Let it sit for several minutes and then scrub with your brush, and then rinse clean.
To clean paver slabs, you can use a detergent, such as Dawn, or a vinegar-water solution that is gentle enough to effectively clean without causing damage to your concrete pavers.
Generally, interior pavers that have been grouted and sealed just need to be swept, mopped, and spot-cleaned as needed with a gentle, non-acidic multipurpose cleaning solution, such as Enviro Klean All Surface Cleaner or Light Duty Concrete Cleaner. Exterior paver patio hardscaping is even more low-maintenance.
Water and mild dish soap is a popular cleaning solution because it's easy to find at home and it won't damage brick, but it will tackle stains. The BIA recommends using hot water for surface cleaning with a detergent. White vinegar and water, another common household cleaner, can also be used on mildew.
USE WHITE VINEGAR
Cleaning pavers with vinegar is one of the simplest ways to eliminate stubborn oil stains, or moss, and algae on pavers, particularly brick ones. Vinegar is 5% acetic acid, making it a fairly powerful cleaning agent for breaking down oil, dirt, bacteria, and other kinds of stains.
Whilst vinegar will not directly dissolve concrete itself, but it will degrade the cement that binds your concrete slabs or flags together. Extended exposure to vinegar will also cause any polish or sealant on your pavers to erode over time, leading to bleaching, stains and weathering.
Apply the Simple Green solution. Allow the product to soak for a minute or so on heavy soils and greasy spills. Scrub, if necessary. Scrubbing with a soft bristle brush or non-abrasive scrubbing pad provides agitation that will help to loosen soils and will ensure a thoroughly clean, residue free surface.
Cleaning your pavers with bleach has a lot of benefits: Disinfecting the Surface: Bleach is an effective disinfectant and can kill any bacteria or mold on the surface. This will help to prevent any health hazards from occurring. Removing Tough Stains: Bleach is also effective in removing tough stains from the surface.
The old cleaning solutions are still the best ones, even with pavers. Use your everyday hand soap or dishwashing soap and add in some water to maintain and clean your paver surfaces. Get a bowl or tub of water, put in the appropriate amount of soap, then lightly scrub your paver driveway or walkway using a clean brush.
Can you power wash pavers? Power washing (also known as pressure washing) is also a very effective method by which you can remove dust deposits and various stains from your pavers. Just make sure that the water jet is not directed directly at the joints between the paving stones.
Scrubbing Brush and Bucket
Ahhhh the good old-fashioned scrubbing brush. It's been around for such a long time as it genuinely works. When those bristles are passed over the target surface vigorously enough, it'll remove most dirt and stains.
Wash patio slabs with white vinegar
This eco-friendly solution is made up of equal parts vinegar and water, which is then left to soak into the patio to correct any discolouration and also remove tough marks. You should first move all plants and furniture out of the way, then sweep the area to remove any moss.
'A homemade cleaning solution for your patio can be made by mixing equal parts water and white vinegar,' says Zak. 'This natural cleaner is effective in removing dirt, mildew, and algae. For stubborn stains, you can add a few drops of liquid dish soap to the mixture. '
On the other hand, baking soda is useful because it is slightly abrasive, which is excellent for the rough surfaces of paving slabs. When it is mixed with water, it can dissolve dirt and grease, and like vinegar, you'll only need a brush or broom when cleaning.
To clean your pavers with vinegar, mix equal parts of water and vinegar in a bucket, let it sit on the pavers for an hour so that the vinegar has time to work, then scrub the surface with a brush or a sponge. Make sure you choose white vinegar for household cleaning, as other types of vinegar can stain.
After sweeping the debris off your pavers, you can begin cleaning it with water and a mild cleaning solution. You can simply use your garden hose to wet down the entire space! Then, use a mild cleaner, like dish soap, and apply it with a stiff brush. Gently scrub the entire area.
Although bleach is great at the whitening effect, you can use peroxide to achieve this. Hydrogen peroxide is an oxygenated bleach. It is safe for plants, so when you rinse this solution, it won't harm anything. It works together with the dish soap and baking soda to remove dirt and whiten dirty concrete.
