Reset Water Filter Pad
After you change the water filter, press and hold the the RESET WATER FILTER button for 3 seconds until the red light goes off. On some models the light goes out and on others it will turn green; either is considered normal.
Locate the reset button, usually found beneath the status light on the control panel. Press and hold the button for three seconds or until you hear a beep or chirp. Once the appliance makes a noise, you can release the button and close your fridge.

Try taking the filter out and resetting it in the filter head. If the filter isn't installed properly, it won't allow water through.
Air in the system: When you replace a water filter, air can get trapped in the water lines, causing the dispenser to stop working temporarily. To fix this, try running a few cups of water through the dispenser to flush out any air bubbles. It may take a few minutes for the water flow to normalize.

The light on the fridge is not actually connected to the filter; it works on a 6-month time frame; so when you change the filter, the light may remain on.
Disconnect power to your refrigerator for 30 seconds and this should reset the control panel.

You can reset the ice maker in many refrigerators by simply turning it off for a minute and then turning it back on. Refer to your fridge owner's manual for instructions on turning off the ice maker in your model.
Unplug your refrigerator
Disconnect your fridge from its power source by removing the power cord from the wall outlet. You may hear some whooshing or knocking noises after you do so; that's normal. Make sure your fridge stays unplugged for several minutes, otherwise the reset won't work.
The most common issues that GE refrigerators face include water leakage from the ice maker, temperature control issues, and excessive noise. Fortunately, many of these problems can be fixed easily with a few troubleshooting tips.
KitchenAid and Whirlpool - push and release the light switch a total of 5 times within 10 seconds. If you see a Filter button on the refrigerator, push and hold this button for 5-10 seconds. LG - push the Reset button and hold it for 3 seconds.
Many of today's refrigerators track the life-cycle of your filter and will notify you with a red light or another indicator when your filter is reaching the end of its useful life.
If you just replaced the water filter and don't have water from the dispenser, the reservoir tank or tubing has not filled yet. Press the dispenser for several minutes to purge air from the line and make sure all the tubing is filled with water.
