It's inconvenient and pool liners can cost hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars to replace. That's why we recommend keeping Flex Tape or our Pool patch and repair kit nearby. The next time you find yourself with this problem, just use Flex Tape and your pool leak will be repaired in a matter of minutes.
Yes! It is always a good idea to use padding under your liner as another layer to prevent roots, stones, or other debris from making a hole in your liner and causing a leak. There are many different kinds of padding on the market, to name a few there are: Gorilla Pad, Happy Bottom, and Foam Pad.
Tired of having your vinyl pool liner damaged by rocks, roots, or nut grass? Then place Armor Shield under your vinyl liner and guard it from cuts, punctures, and abrasions resulting from rocks, roots, nutgrass, and even glass! The Armor Shield is ecologically friendly and pre-cut to the most popular size pools.
Pool Floor Padding
By far the best material to place under a swimming pool liner is Armor Shield or Gorilla Pad. These materials are breathable allowing moisture to escape and are extremely tough, keeping insects and moles from coming through and piercing the vinyl pool liner.
Q: Can I use Flex Seal Spray on vinyl pools and pool liners? No, we do not recommend the use of Flex Seal Spray on vinyl.
Found a tear in your pool liner? At 4" wide, Gorilla Waterproof Patch & Seal Tape can be used to patch holes, cracks, gaps and tears, even underwater!
Yes, of course. Patching a pool with water in it is a simple process. The first thing you need to do is identify the area of the leak. Next, find a patch material that matches the shade of your current liner.
High concentrations of chlorine (above 1.5 ppm) will attack the liner and bleach it, thus damaging it. Any level below this range will weaken its ability to kill off bacteria. The addition of chlorine to your pool water has to be done in a careful manner.
This is where the sun can do the most damage. If your pool gets a lot of sunlight, I always recommend to go with a thicker liner, and the sun will have to work harder to wear the liner down. I also make sure to wash down the water line area regularly with a vinyl cleaner that protects the vinyl from the sun's rays.
Chlorine tablets such as dichlor and trichlor can damage vinyl liner pools if they come in contact with the liner. Chlorine tablets are often highly concentrated. As a result, they increase chlorine concentration which can bleach and weaken the liner's vinyl material, greatly reducing its life.
Both butyl rubber and silicone rubber are excellent options for waterproof tape. This type of tape is used for outdoor repairs to seal up leaks in the roof, to fix a hole in the side of an above-ground pool, or to patch up a boat. Some can even go on while underwater.
Gorilla Waterproof Patch & Seal Tape instantly seals out water, air, and moisture. With an extra thick adhesive layer and UV resistant backing this tape conforms to form a permanent bond indoors and out. At 4" wide use it to patch holes, cracks, gaps and tears, even underwater.
Gorilla Tape for Versatility And Strength
For most situations though, Gorilla Tape is likely the best choice. It's far stronger than Flex Tape and adheres almost instantly. Once you apply it, it's on. While this can make it a bit more difficult to work with, it also makes things more efficient.
It will work great. This stuff is amazing. You can seal your pool liner and it will last and last.
Flex Seal can be used on almost every surface: wood, metal, tile, concrete, masonry, fabric, glass, plastic, aluminum, porcelain, drywall, rubber, cement, and vinyl. Plus, it won't sag or drip in the summer heat, and it won't crack or peel in the winter cold. It even prevents corrosion.
Once fully cured, Flex Seal Liquid is designed to be chemically resistant. Although Flex Seal Liquid has not been tested for its maximum resistance to chlorine, it will withstand the levels found in tap water.
At the bare minimum, yes you should put a tarp underneath your Intex pool. Inflatable pools, Bestway and Summer Ways pools will also benefit from a tarp. What is this? Although a tarp will help protect your pool there are far better choices such as foam tiles or proper commercial under pool pads.
Sand is the recommended base material upon which an aboveground pool should sit. Sand is used under an aboveground pool to protect the pool's vinyl liner from rocks and objects that could tear the liner. Also, sand under an aboveground pool acts as cushioning for its floor, making it more comfortable for feet.
Saltwater is extremely corrosive to certain types of metal pipes and pool equipment. Occasionally, saltwater pools are equally corrosive to pool liners. If saltwater wears away the lining of a pool long enough, it will create holes or tears in the liner. Once the liner tears, you'll have no choice but to replace it.
Is your pool's liner looking a little worn down? A typical vinyl liner lasts between 10 and 15 years, though there are many factors that can affect its lifespan. Living in an area susceptible to ground water problems can reduce your liner's life, as can not keeping the water in your pool balanced.
