Width 1st, Length 2nd. Please note, on inside the window measurements, the factory takes deductions in order to fit inside that window opening. Top, Middle, Bottom Left, Middle, Right Write down the narrowest measurement (to the nearest 1/8) Write down the longest measurement (to the nearest 1/8).
Measure the narrowest width of the three measurements. Measure for height: at the left, middle and right side. Document the longest length of the three measurements. Measure the depth of the window so you know how deep the blinds can be.
Always record width (left to right) first, and then height (top to bottom). Please note: Floor-Length Vertical Blinds: If you are mounting floor-length vertical blinds to the ceiling, you will need to deduct ½” from your total measurement so the vanes do not touch the floor.
A recess fit blind means you supply us with the width and drop of your recess – from top to bottom and wall to wall. We make deductions to account for the brackets to ensure your blind fits within the recess perfectly.
A: The actual width of the 35" blinds are 34.5" (half inch narrower) to comfortably fit inside a 35" opening. So if your frame is exactly 34.5 inches, I would go with the 35" blinds. But first check that the width is the same through the whole length of the frame.
“The industry standard is to take a ¼- to ⅜-inch deduction off of the narrowest width measurement provided and use that as the finished blind width,” says Weidenbaum.
The first dimension to measure is length. Length is always the longest side of the box that has a flap. The next dimension is width.
Measure the width: Measure from one side of the window casing to the other side in the top, bottom and the middle. If all the measurements are not the same, use the smallest measurement for your blinds or shades. Measure the height: Measure from the sill to the bottom of the top casing in three places.
The recess itself is the opening inside of the window and measurement is made to calculate the total length and width of the blind within this space, or recess, so that the blind fits into the opening, rather than onto the wall above and on either side of the window. There is no overlap at all.
Braille is not a language.
It is a tactile code enabling blind and visually impaired people to read and write by touch, with various combinations of raised dots representing the alphabet, words, punctuation and numbers.
The most common standard vertical blind sizes that you can buy quick ship or off-the-shelf range from 24-inch x 72-inch to 72-inch x 72-inch. Wider or longer vertical blinds typically require a custom order.
Standard sized blinds are anywhere from 24 x 72 - 72 x 72 off the shelf at your local hardware stores.
If you're looking to mount the blinds inside the window frame, small slats work great too. Medium sized windows are the most common and generally default to the most common slat size, which is 2”.
Length x Width x Height
Here are some examples of how to find the dimensions of common objects: A standard sheet of paper is 8.5 inches long and 11 inches wide. To find its height, we would need to know how thick it is. Let's say a sheet of paper is 0.1 inches thick.
Note: All box dimensions are written as length x width x height. For example, 14" x 11" x 4" means 14" (L) x 11" (W) x 4" (H)".
The longer dimension is the length and comes first in order. The other dimension is the width. Now, measure the distance from one of the inside corners to the top. This is the depth.
Once you have properly measured, bring your measurements in to the store. Our associates can cut your in-store bought blinds to the exact size needed, for free.
Work Out Your Blind Size
You then need to add a little for overlap: We recommend adding 10cm to the width to allow adequate overhang to block out light. We recommend adding 15-20cm to the height to allow most of the blind to be pulled up above the window to maximise the light.
Measure Width
And you don't want to see too much of the wall through the slats of the blinds. Round off your measurements to the nearest 1/8 inch. As a rule, the blinds will look nice if they extend about 3 inches beyond each side of the window opening.
Step 1: Measure the Width
Depending on the product, the fabric width will be up to 1-3/8 inches narrower than the tip-to-tip measurement provided. For optimum light control, the blinds should overlap the window opening by at least 2 inches on each side for a total of 4 inches added to the entire width.
What size blinds do I need for 34.5 inch long window? 37 inches long. Assuming that you wish to have an outside mounted window blind, the length of your blind should be: 34.5 + 1.5 = 37 inches long.
Start and finish where you want the edges of your blind and take three width measurements from the top, middle and bottom. We recommend to measure at least 15cm each side of the recess to prevent light bleed. Note down the smallest of the three measurements, this will be your width.
Exact Fit Blinds
Exact is when you want your blind to be fitted on the outside of the window recess.
