Steam cleaning: If you have access to a steam cleaner, it can be an effective way to soften carpet fibers and remove dirt and stains. The steam helps loosen dirt and debris, while the heat helps lift and fluff the fibers.
Fluff it up
Matted carpet can easily be brought back to life. Spritz a little warm water onto the matted area then gently blow-dry with a hairdryer as you fluff the carpet fibres back into place with your fingers, the edge of a spoon or a hairpin. Allow the carpet to dry completely before walking on it.
To make your carpet fluffy again, start by vacuuming to lift dirt and debris. Then, use a carpet rake or stiff brush to loosen and raise the fibers. For extra softness, sprinkle baking soda over the carpet, let it sit for 15--30 minutes, then vacuum. You can also try steam cleaning, which helps revive flattened fibers.
The heat/steam combination should help lift the fibres to “re-fluff” the carpet.

Although we offer both approaches, in our opinion, steam cleaning tends to be the better option in most situations. Here's why: It can usually remove ingrained dirt more effectively – particularly stubborn stains that have embedded themselves deep into the fibres.
So, where does the dirt go when you steam clean? Actually, it doesn't go anywhere. Instead, the heat and vapour of steam cleaning ensure that all the unwanted substances or stains are fully broken down and easy to get rid of.
Wicking. Wicking is another common reason for carpets remaining dirty after cleaning. Wicking occurs when the carpet dries faster than the padding, causing the dirt and stains to wick back up into the carpet fibers.
Grab some ice cubes – this is a tried and tested method of getting furniture indentations out of your carpet pile. Fill the indentations with the ice cubes and let them melt completely. Then use your fingers or a strong brush to brush the carpet fibres up and repeat the process if you're not 100% satisfied.
Apply heat to the surface
The best way to make a carpet fluffy again is to dampen a white piece of cloth and lay it over the flattened areas. Take a clothes iron and gently run it over the covered surface. Don't press too much and set the iron to work with low to medium heat.
Thankfully, most new rugs will naturally relax and acclimate in their new space, with little effort from you. Once the rug has been unrolled and smoothed into its new area, a couple of days to rest may be all it needs to lay flat. Avoid placing furnishings on top of the rug for the first 24-48 hours.
This phenomenon is sometimes called “bearding” because it vaguely resembles the appearance and texture of a large fuzzy beard. Fuzzing typically occurs when fibers from the carpet come loose due to foot traffic, but that is not the only thing that can cause it.
Steam Iron Method: Hold a steam iron a few inches above the carpet dent, being careful not to touch the fibers directly. Allow the steam to penetrate the area, softening the fibers and making them more pliable. After steaming, use a spoon or your fingers to gently lift and fluff the carpet fibers back into place.
Foot traffic results in flattened carpets and issues like matting, crushed fibers, large indents, discoloration and stains.
When the carpets are steam cleaned, the dust mites get killed and all the dirt is broken down. This happens due to the heat and the tiny pieces of dirt particles still remain there. To remove the dirt from the carpets after the steam cleaning you have to wipe it out with a broom, cloth or vacuum cleaner.
The water vapor produced contains no smell, and it's an effective way to kill bacteria and lift dirt that contributes to other bothersome scents. Unlike sprays and dry cleansers, steam cleaning a carpet won't inject substances that would leave residue on the carpet fibers.
After steam cleaning, the surface can be rubbed dry using a cloth. Note for silicone grouting: apply steam only briefly to avoid damaging the material.
Long drying times for carpet
In Steam Cleaning Equipment, using steam for carpets, you may have to wait up to 24 hours for the carpet to be completely dry and able to be walked on again. This could be inconvenient for some, especially if the carpet is in a workplace or commercial area.
How Often Should You Clean? Like we mentioned above, most carpet manufacturers recommend having your carpets professionally cleaned every 12-18 months.
Hot Water Extraction
Otherwise known as steam cleaning, this is easily the most common professional carpet cleaning technique. Steam cleaning uses hot water at high pressure to penetrate into carpet fibers, breaking down the dirt and bacteria stored deep within. The hot water is then extracted via vacuum.
Using Baking Soda to Make Carpet Fluffy
Baking soda is an effective means to revitalize your carpet fluffiness. Spread baking soda over the carpet and allow it to settle for a minimum of an hour. This easy process facilitates the loosening of dirt and debris, improving the effectivity of removal through vacuuming.
Humidity and Carpet Rippling
In non-severe cases where the carpet has buckled due to high humidity, the carpet may lay flat again, without any intervention, once the moisture levels in the air return to “normal”—whatever the “normal” is for that area.
