Removing sticky residue If you've ever tried to remove a sticky label or decal, you'll know how annoying that residue can be. Eucalyptus oil is a very effective adhesive remover, particularly on glass. It can be used straight in its concentrated form to target sticky areas, then just rinse off with water.
Eucalyptus oil can be used straight to remove sticky residue on glass and plastic surfaces. Just dab on with a soft cloth and use some elbow grease to wipe away the stickyness.
Coconut oil was the clear winner for removing sticky adhesive. As you can see in the photo the coconut oil not only dissolved the adhesive but allowed the leftover label to come off in a chunk instead of having to scrape over and over.
Lemon essential oil works great.
Baby psyllids use the honeydew to form a protective cap, called a "lerp", which is the conspicuous scale-like cone seen on infested eucalyptus leaves. The insect lives under the lerp for most of its life. The excess honeydew attracts sooty mold, turning the leaves black, or drips down the leaves causing a sticky mess.
Vegetable or canola oil can work wonders, as can peanut butter or mayonnaise. Spread it on, let it soak into the residue for about an hour, then wipe it away. For a tougher clean, try rubbing alcohol or vodka. Let it fully permeate the unwanted residue, then rub away completely with a cloth.
What removes sticky residue? Rubbing alcohol or white vinegar. Dab a paper towel with either ingredient, then spread the towel over the affected area for 5 minutes. Doing so should soften the sticky residue and you should be able to scrape it off easily.
Q: Do essential oils stain? A: Other than the exceptions listed below, pure essential oils do not stain. Because they are volatile, the oil evaporates without leaving a grease stain on clothes or fabrics like you could get from a drop of carrier oil.
Eucalyptus oil is great for mopping up blobs, smears and spills from crafting activities - it helps clean up most glue residue, water-based and acrylic paint and can help clean art tools like brushes, scissors and scalpels.
Oil-based solutions are a natural and effective method to dissolve sticky labels without harming delicate surfaces. Common household oils like cooking oil, baby oil, or even peanut butter contain compounds that naturally break down the bonds in adhesives, making them excellent choices for removing sticky label residue.
You can also use the oil to remove water-based glue from carpet with a cloth (full method here). Eucalyptus oil is also super useful for dissolving chewing gum. Keep in mind though, that eucalyptus oil can be harmful to children, so don't use it to get gum out of your kid's hair.
Cleaning: For hard surfaces (kitchen, bathroom), add 2 capfuls to water. Removes bacteria and odours. Floors: Add 2 capfuls to warm water when washing floors. Laundry: To clean and freshen including woollens, work clothes, sheets and towels, add 2 capfuls to wash.
Canola Oil or Olive Oil
Applying cooking oil can help soften sticker residue.

White Vinegar
It's even capable of removing sticker residue from surfaces, especially glass and metal. Vinegar's acidity is to thank, as it helps break down the adhesive and lets it be wiped away.
Quick tip: Oil-based ingredients like mayonnaise and even peanut butter can also work in a pinch. Apply mayo or peanut butter to a sticky surface, wait 20 minutes, and then wipe it off with a dry cloth. Repeat the process if necessary.
Rubbing alcohol and vodka are popular methods for removing sticker residue because they're safe to use on a variety of surfaces such as wood, plastic and glass. To remove sticker residue with rubbing alcohol, apply it to a cloth until wet and rub the residue away.
Products like Vaseline made out of petroleum jelly work like oils and lotions to remove adhesive from the skin. A unique benefit is that petroleum jelly is extra-thick, so it's easy to let it sit for a long time (though its greasiness makes this unpleasant for some).
Douse a cotton pad or cloth in rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide and let it sit on the sticky surface for several minutes. Then, use the same damp cloth to rub the sticker residue away.

Sometimes lerps and leaves are covered with green or black sticky mold that grows on the secretions. Often the lerps rain down from the trees as they are abandoned. The nymphs also can dribble honeydew on whatever is below the tree.
If the sap is fresh and has not baked into the paint, warm water and soap should do the trick. But if the sap stain seems stubborn to remove, apply a dab of isopropyl alcohol to it. Let it sit for at least 30 seconds, then simply clean it off with a clean microfiber towel.
