DIY Goo Gone Modpodge Rocks Blog recommends a combination of 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/8 cup vegetable oil, and 3 drops of citrus essential oils of your choice — lemon or orange will not only give it a fresh scent but also help to break down the adhesive.
The coconut oil version:
1 part baking soda. 1 part melted coconut oil (I used refined coconut oil here) sweet orange oil (optional)
Peanut butter or cooking oil. Give the oil lots of time to soak in. But then you have to remove the oil with dish soap. It is a good trick if you're out of goo gone, or need to use it on a food safe surface, but it isn't worth it otherwise.
A: Goof Off is industrial strength; it is the super solvent, BUT, is so strong it will dissolve a great number of plastic items. Most clear, polished plastic services will become frosted from just a damp wiping with Goof off. Where Goo Gone is more of an oily solvent.
The WD-40 Multi-Use Product will need a bit of time to soften the sticker adhesive for all the residue to be removed by a rag, so allow several minutes for the formula to sit on the area. Once the product has loosened the adhesive, use a clean rag to wipe away the rest of the sticker residue and the excess product.
You can remove glue residue with a glue dissolving solvent or homemade glue remover, such as cooking oil, rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) or acetone (nail varnish remover).
I was in Dollar Tree yesterday and happened to see big bottles of Goo Gone. They're in the cleaning section if anyone is in need of some.
Trying Rubbing Alcohol
Rubbing alcohol is effective for non-porous surfaces such as metal and plastic. Soak a cotton ball or soft cloth in rubbing alcohol and gently rub it on the residue.
Hydrogen peroxide is especially good on super glue, and it's a safe way to clean up most glue spills on metal. Soak a cotton ball with the hydrogen peroxide and press it onto the glue until it softens. Use fresh cotton balls as needed to blot up any glue residue.
All-Natural Goo-B-Gone
1/2 cup oil (olive, canola, vegetable, etc.) Mix all ingredients in a bowl until consistency is smooth. Store in an airtight glass container.
I discovered this while trying to clean off some stubborn label adhesive from some spice jars I wanted to reuse! It's super simple: two parts baking soda, one part vegetable oil. Worked like a charm! This could be a great way to salvage a lot of reusable items.

To remove adhesive residue from metal, you should try using rubbing alcohol, or isopropyl, first. Apply with a cotton ball and let it soak in. Most adhesives will break down on contact, and rubbing alcohol won't damage metal surfaces. If that doesn't work, baby oil is another useful alternative.

WD-40 is a multi-use lubricant spray that can also be used for sticker residue removal. To apply, simply spray it over the affected area and leave for several minutes. The glue should then just wipe away!
Olive oil works well on these sticky encounters because it serves as a softener, loosening the stubborn glue from the sticker that doesn't want to be displaced.
Use a solvent like acetone, rubbing alcohol, or commercial adhesive remover. Apply the solvent to a cloth and gently rub the adhesive until it loosens. Scrape off any residue carefully.
All you have to do is to take a bit of it and rub it on the plastic where glue is and then wipe it off using a cloth. Here's the science behind this, all lip balms and vaseline contains petroleum jelly which weaken the glue bonds hence remove it from the plastic surface.
White vinegar is a safe and natural cleaner, deodorizer, and adhesive remover you can use on many surfaces. Soak a paper towel in vinegar and cover the sticky spot. Let the vinegar soak for a few minutes to dissolve the adhesive, then scrape it off with a credit card.
