OxiClean™ powder is activated by warm or hot water. When using in cold water, first dissolve OxiClean™ White Revive™ Laundry Stain Remover Paks in hot water, and then add the warm solution to the drum or in a cooler soaking solution.
Warm or hot water helps the Oxi Clean dissolve better. You can use cold water, but it is definitely harder to get the Oxi Clean to disperse.
Consumers who use very cold water and HE machine may find that the product doesn't dissolve well. For use in cold water, we recommend using OxiClean™ White Revive™ Paks.

Mix 1 capful of OxiClean per gallon of the warmest water recommended by the garment care label. Submerge tough stains, heavily soiled clothing, or dingy whites in solution and soak for 6 hours, then wash as normal. POUR directly onto the stain and rub gently. WAIT 5-10 minutes then wash.

Give them a soak and some sun
“I soak my white jeans in hot water and some eco-friendly detergent and line dry them in the sun.” Don't use scalding-hot water — any hotter than 85° and that stain's yours forever — and stay away from bleach (unless you like thin, yellowed denim).
Whites Turned Pink
To fix this, soak the discolored stuff in a sink filled with water and bleach (10 parts water to 1 part bleach) or OxiClean (read the label for the amount). Check every 15 minutes or so and remove when white; 90 minutes should be more than enough. Then machine wash.
Read Before Use: Safe on colorfast fabrics only. Always follow manufacturer's guidelines for the item being cleaned. Launder in the warmest water recommended by the garment care label. Do not use on wool, wool blends, silk, silk blends, leather or fabrics labeled dry clean only.
Use vinegar. Like baking soda, you can use distilled white vinegar as either a bleach-free pretreating solution or as an additive to a standard wash cycle. White vinegar is an acidic solution that can be used to brighten the appearance of white fabrics.
Your best bet is to give your socks a soak in a warm sink filled with a liberal sprinkling of baking soda for several hours. Then, after wringing them dry, wash them in your machine by adding 150-200 ml of baking soda to the detergent drawer, along with your normal powder or liquid.
