In general one soft hinge is sufficient on majority of the door and closing habits. Two would provide more dampening and thus you can slam the doors harder with more satisfying effect.
We always recommend installing 2 Self Closing Spring Hinges per door. If you are using 2, install 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom.
Make sure the soft close hinge is squarely in place, and flush with the top of the cabinet door. Once it is aligned properly, you can fasten it into place. Use the small wood screws that are included with your Blum Soft Close Hinges.

As for the 3rd hinge, you could put it in the middle, but personally I would put it somewhere more towards the top, as that is where all the weight is in the door. I would say an inch or 2 below the top hinge.
The process for how to adjust soft close hinges laterally is simple. To shift the door to the right, use your Phillips-head screwdriver to turn the screw clockwise. Likewise, for a lateral cabinet hinge adjustment to the left, turn the screw counterclockwise.
You can adjust your cabinet door and drawer with the medium hinge setting. So, if you want to adjust the hinge of the soft close door then, you will have to turn and adjust the lever in a clockwise direction. So, it will point towards the ceiling.
If your soft close cabinet slams shut, it could be because the door is overlapping the neighboring door and hitting it before the soft-closing mechanism has a chance to fully engage.

Soft-Close Drawers
Cabinets and drawers can both use soft-close designs to avoid the slamming-shut problem. Soft-close drawer slides use a hydraulic chamber similar to soft-close cabinet hardware. These soft-close slides are mounted under the drawer, though some manufacturers make modified side-mount slides.
To make slow close drawers, you install one piece inside the cabinet on the wall and one piece onto the drawer. The old hardware remains in place. What is this? The slow close basically is the result of the piece on the drawer catching the piece on the wall and then slowly closing.
The "self" element means that the hinge or slide has a built-in element that pulls the drawer or door closed, sometimes with a tap or bang. "Soft"-closing means just that it glides. The drawer or door is pushed and it glides to a certain point and then hydraulics take over.
If you want to be sure of how many hinges your door requires, here is a point of reference for you: If your door is approximately 60" you will have to use two hinges. If your door measures between 60" to 90" you will need three hinges. If your door measures between 90" to 120", you will need to use four hinges.
Standard 60" doors typically require three hinges, but anything taller than that may require more.
The third(centre) hinge WILL take weight from the door. AND it will actually help PREVENT warping(one of the main reasons to have a third hinge). And three nice brass hinges don't look at all bad.
