The national standard for certifying plumbing fixtures "lead free" status is determined by the National Sanitary Foundation (NSF) - the standard is International Standard 61-Section 9. New faucets meeting the NSF 61 standard will have NSF 61/9 stamped on the new faucet's cardboard box.
Almost all faucets and fittings should now carry the Prop 65 label in California as they include components made with brass, which contain small but detectable amounts of lead, an element included on the Prop 65 chemical list.
All plumbing fixtures in the US should be safe, but as we mentioned earlier, some materials contain a minute amount of lead. Stainless steel doesn't, so you can rest assured it won't release lead into the water that comes out of the faucet.
1941-1986 – In 1986, Congress amended the Safe Drinking Water Act to ban the use of lead in plumbing, solder, and flux in public water systems and in plumbing that provides water for human consumption.
Even if you know your service line is not lead, lead can be found in other plumbing materials and faucets. Testing your drinking water is the only way to confirm if lead is present. Since each home has different plumbing, pipes, and materials, test results are likely to be different for each home.
If a faucet isn't NSF 61 certified, it may introduce more impurities than the standard permits. Why Don't Commercial Sensor Faucets Require NSF 61 Certification? In 2021, California passed Assembly Bill 100, which prohibited the manufacture or sale in the state of endpoint devices that did not meet the NSF 61 standard.
All types of steel contain a chemical called nickel, which has been deemed by California to potentially cause cancer, and is “under consideration” for causing reproductive harm." I'll let you investigate Proposition 65 with respect to nickel.
Consumers should also consider that some products that may contain Prop 65 listed chemicals are not required to display a Prop 65 warning – products such as pharmaceuticals, foods that contain naturally-occurring chemicals, and drinking water, as well as some products manufactured and distributed by small businesses.
Don't: Boil water to remove lead ▪ Boiling water will not lower the amount of lead. Use hot water for drinking, cooking or making baby formula and baby cereal. Hot water is more likely to contain higher levels of lead.
How is lead poisoning diagnosed? If you think you or your child may have been exposed to lead, contact your healthcare provider. They'll ask about your symptoms and have you or your child get a blood lead test.
If a magnet sticks, it is a steel pipe. Magnets will ONLY stick to steel. They will NOT stick to lead or copper. Lead is dull, very soft, and will turn a shiny silver color when scratched.

Understanding Stainless Steel Composition
It's typically composed of iron, chromium, nickel, and other trace elements. However, some low-quality stainless steel may contain contaminants like lead, which can pose health risks if they leach into the contents of the bottle.
Similarly, some foods contain Proposition 65-listed chemicals. This does not mean that these foods should never be eaten. But interested consumers can decide what and how often to eat certain foods if they wish to reduce their exposure to these chemicals.
It's possible that the product isn't sold in California – the only state that requires this warning label. And some companies only put the labels on products that will be sold in California, so you won't see them unless you buy the product there.

However, faucets can have the capability to boost flow to 2.2 gallons per minute to fill pots and pans. Public lavatory faucets - Maximum flow rate is 0.5 gallon per minute.
As water passes through the filter, the nonwoven element reduces sediment, while the carbon block traps smaller contaminants. * Brita® faucet filters reduce lead, chlorine, asbestos, benzene, particulates and other contaminants. See this chart for a complete list of what Brita reduces or removes from tap water.

The FDA bottled water quality regulations require bottled water companies to regularly sample and analyze their water. Samples must be found to be safe and sanitary.
