If your current pool light is a 120V pool light, then you'll need to have an electrician install a transformer between the power source and the junction box. The Junction Box, or J-box as it's sometimes called, is the point where the wires from the pool light meet the wires from the breaker box.
Nowadays, LED pool lights typically use only 12V and new transformers are normally installed near the pool equipment to reduce the standard 240V to 12V.
You absolutely need a "pool code" transformer (one that is rated for pool use) and I think code in most areas requires that it be hooked up through a GFCI circuit (either as part of the line side of a receptacle OR with it's own GFCI breaker) even though a GFCI breaker will not necessarily trip if there's a ground ...
The light always has to be a dedicated circuit because it has to be protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). A GFCI is a device that monitors the amount of current flowing from hot to neutral. If there is an imbalance, it trips the circuit.

You could buy a whole new light fixture with a longer cord or you could splice into the existing cord and add to it. If you add a spliced cord, you should not put the splice underground inside the light wire's conduit. That pipe generally collects water and the spice would eventually short out.
Look at the cord that is attached to the fixture. Weather it be at the junction box where it ties into the supply voltage, or if you take the fixture out of the niche and pull it up to the deck. The cord is black for 120v and bright orange for 12V.
