Always use wooden, silicon, or plastic utensils to avoid scraping the pots and pans. Get an olive oil sprayer – Caraway recommends not using sprays/cooking aerosols to preserve the coating. We have an olive oil sprayer that we love for cooking with instead. I refill it with my favorite olive oil.
Known for its rich flavor and health benefits , extra virgin olive oil has a lower smoke point that can quickly degrade under high heat, potentially harming the non-stick coating of ceramic pans. Save this flavorful oil for dressings or low-heat cooking.
Don't use spray oils -- We know they are convenient, but these can leave a hard-to-clean residue on your pans and can damage the ceramic coating. If you must spray, we recommend using an oil mister filled with olive oil or avocado oil.
It helps to use a little oil every time you cook, and to avoid using metal utensils or abrasive cleaning pads, and to avoid very high temperatures or the use of cooking sprays (which deposit something harmful to the ceramic coating) or olive oil (which can burn on).
The reason for sticking is that the cooking surface is porous. Try preheating the pan till smoking point if it is metal based and the turn off the heat add your oil then your eggs cover with a lid and the eggs will cooked nice and gently on the residual heat.
Cover the baking pan with 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 cup vinegar. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes. This will release stuck-on food so that it can be easily wiped away. Once the mess is gone, wash the baking pan with mild dish soap.
If you're in the market for new cookware, Caraway is worth the investment. These pots and pans perform exceptionally well: They heat quickly, distribute heat evenly, and are versatile (hello, stovetop-to-oven cooking) and easy to clean. Those are major considerations when shopping for a new set.
The second con of the Caraway cookware line is that, like all non-stick, they won't last forever. Depending on how well you take care of them they will last anywhere from 1-3 years.
Yes? Using cooking spray as a replacement for oil and butter can help cut back the calories. Since butter and oil have 100 to 120 calories per tablespoon (respectively), switching to a spray can mean fewer calories (and grams of fat) in your cooking.
We use wood or silicone cooking utensils — never silverware or metal utensils, so the inner pans are not scratched whatsoever. On the outside, we've had some spills, grease, and who-knows-what burn onto the outer pan underneath, and we easily scrubbed it off with some barkeepers friend.
After testing the Caraway Home Cookware set in my own kitchen (remember, we eat mostly from scratch vegetarian meals so we cook for almost every single meal) I can confidently say that Caraway offers the best non toxic cookware in 2022. These are really the best non-stick, non-toxic pans you can get.
What type of tools should I use with the cookware & bakeware? Wooden, silicone, plastic, or nylon utensils are all great to use with your Caraway products! Rough, sharp edges of metal utensils can damage the non-stick coating, and we strongly recommend that you avoid these.
Avoid using oil sprays or cooking aerosols for greasing pans to preserve the naturally slick coating. Metal utensils with rough edges may damage your non-stick coating. Stick to wooden, silicone, plastic, or nylon products. Always be sure to cut or dice food on a separate surface and not inside your pan.
Be Careful with olive oil
Please remember that olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, butter and oil sprays quickly start to smoke and burn when the pan is hot. This causes carbonization of the pan, which can damage the non-stick layer.
There are several different types of grease that are suitable for greasing cookware, including shortening, nonstick cooking spray, olive oil, canola oil, vegetable oil, coconut oil, bacon fat, and butter. Be aware that a little bit of the grease's flavor is likely to make its way into your baked goods.
Caraway cookware distinguishes itself with its non-toxic ceramic coating that ensures a safer cooking experience free from harmful chemicals. Their ceramic-coated cookware has a naturally slick surface so you can use minimal oil and butter and your food will still slide right out of the pan.
Average ceramic cookware will last for about a year, whereas quality ceramics can last for up to 3 years when well taken care of. The main reason ceramic cookware may need to be thrown out is that it loses its nonstick coating.
Made in China: While the Caraway products were designed in the US, they are actually manufactured in China.
Olive oil can also damage ceramic pots and pans by creating a carbonized layer over the bottom. If you cook with olive oil, make sure it's over low to medium heat.
With their smooth, stick-resistant surface, ceramic pans work particularly well for cooking stick-prone and/or delicate foods like eggs and fish, and they also come in handy for sautéing vegetables and tofu, simmering sauces, and making toasted sandwiches.
According to Anolon, "The use of cooking sprays is not recommended for use on non-stick cookware as cooking sprays burn at lower temperatures and will damage the non-stick coating of your product. An invisible buildup will impair the nonstick release system causing food to stick."
The Bottom Line
Caraway is pricier than GreenPan, but their products have consistently been top performers in our tests and have continued to deliver top-quality performance after years of use. Alternately, GreenPan is more affordable but did become less nonstick over time.
Our Caraway stainless steel cookware can withstand oven temperatures up to 550°F.
Only use silicone or wooden utensils with your Caraway. Never use metal, as it will scratch the non-stick coating off of the interior surface. Do not cook on high heat (stovetop) or place the bakeware in the oven on the broil setting. Cook on low to medium on the stove, and bake at up to 500 degrees in the oven.
