Be sure to avoid these products when cleaning your leather: Baking soda, white vinegar, cream of tartar, and lemon juice.
Do not use cleaning solvents, furniture polish, oils, varnish, abrasive cleaners, or ammonia water. For butter, oil, or grease stains, wipe off excess with a clean dry cloth, then leave it alone. The spot should dissipate into the leather after a short period of time.

Use beeswax and oils to make homemade leather conditioner. Use a small amount on a soft cloth to rub into the leather and buff it to a shine. Melt the mixture over water on medium heat, stirring constantly, until it is completely melted.
Do not use classic Pledge or any other dusting spray on your leather furniture. Over time you will create a build up that will be a nightmare to remove without damaging the leather.
For stubborn stains
If the stain persists, try blotting with a towel dipped in a mixture of water and a mild dish soap (like Palmolive or Dawn). Be sure to blot gently; scrubbing rigorously can cause permanent damage to the leather. When you're done, thoroughly dry the spot with a fresh cloth.
Add gentle beauty and protection to hard surfaces.

Vinegar & Olive Oil Solution for Deeper Cleaning
Mix together vinegar and olive oil in 1:1 ratio. You can mix it in a small container or - better yet - put it in a spray bottle. The liquids have different consistencies so they will separate if left standing, so mix again or shake the bottle before every application!
Leather shoes and belts that are made from hard, finished leather can be easily cleaned with white vinegar. For regular cleaning: Mix equal amounts of white vinegar and olive oil or beeswax. Apply a small amount on the shoes or belt.
Fill a small bowl with warm water and, as the water is running, mix in a drop or two of mild dish liquid or neutral soap, then dip in the corner of a clean, soft cloth. Gently rub the foamy sponge (or soapy cloth) on the leather in a circular motion to lift the dirt from the surface.
