Concrete epoxy adhesives: A quick intro
If you do a lot of DIY projects, you're probably already familiar with two-part epoxy glues. Epoxy glues for concrete are no different – they consist of a resin and a hardener that, when mixed together, form incredibly strong and durable bonds.
The paste is comprised of cement, supplementary cementitious materials and water. It binds the aggregates (sand and gravel or crushed stone) into a rocklike mass. The chemical reaction of the cementitious materials and water, called hydration, is the process by which paste hardens and binds the aggregates.
uses the FlexSeal® Crack Repair System to repair cracks. FlexSeal® is our preferred crack repair product because it creates a strong adhesive bond with concrete. In addition, it also creates a waterproof seal and remains flexible allowing it to expand and contract with the movement of concrete.
Flex-A-Fill is highly recommended for use in asphalt pavement prior to sealcoating, slurry, overlay or chip sealing. At application temperature, Flex-A-Fill is a low viscosity, self-leveling product that easily penetrates narrow cracks.
WHAT IS SEALCOATING? Sealcoating is the application of a specially-formulated liquid coating to asphalt pavement. As the liquid dries, it hardens to seal the pavement from water penetration, sun damage, and chemicals that can degrade asphalt surfaces over time.
Prepare the Area
First, clean the basement walls to ensure an optimal surface for the Flex Seal products to bond to. Use a wire brush to remove any loose paint and dirt. Be sure to wear a face mask when using the wire brush so you do not breathe in any concrete dust particles.
The primary type of sealer used on decorative concrete patios is a solvent- or water-based acrylic. Acrylic sealers are easy to apply, inexpensive, and well-suited for outdoor use because they are UV resistant, nonyellowing, and provide good water repellence while allowing moisture vapor within the slab to escape.
A: YES, Flex Paste can be applied on dry or wet surfaces and even underwater. It won't dissolve or wash away and even dries underwater.
A: Flex Seal Liquid can be poured as thick as you need it, but the dry time will increase with thickness. We timed dry time for something that was a half inch thick and it took about 8-9 days to dry. Temperature and humidity play a factor as well.
Flex Tape is ideal for any water-related application because it seals out water fully and can be applied to wet surfaces – even underwater. Our powerful adhesive has a thick, flexible rubberized backing that conforms to virtually any shape and surface.
