Vinegar is a contact herbicide, so you can unintentionally kill plants in your garden if you accidentally spray them with vinegar. Using vinegar as a weed killer works best on newer plants. "On more established plants, the roots may have enough energy to come back even if the leaves you sprayed have died.
Vinegar is acidic, and in high concentrations it can be harmful to plants. Spraying vinegar on leaves can cause leaf damage, yellowing, and wilting. It can also affect the soil pH, making it too acidic for some plants to grow properly.

Because baking soda increases soil pH, many of the important macro and micro nutrients plants need may become unavailable to them.
