I used to use diluted sugar soap to clean my walls – which worked really well – but I have since discovered The Pink Stuff Multi-Purpose Cleaner, which I think I prefer. I recently used this spray to clean a bit of wall that my cat Millee had been rubbing her face on, and it cleaned up so well!
Sugar soap is great for washing walls, but for a cheaper sugar soap alternative, dishwashing detergent and vinegar do the trick. Put some warm water in a bucket with a squirt or two of dish detergent and a splash of vinegar. With your rag, wet it in the soapy water and wring it out so it's not soaking wet.

Tricleanium is made of 100 per cent alkaline salts and is considered more powerful than sugar soap. It has been on the Australian market since 1954, but it's only recently that it's become known as a household cleaning product.
FOR CLEANING DRAINS:
Dilute 1 tablespoon of POLYCELL SUGAR SOAP POWDER in 500 mi hot water. Pour down drain while still hot.

The comparable cleaning product in Canada and the US is trisodium phosphate, also known as "TSP".
Finally, having ensured your walls are in a good condition, it's time to wash them down. Using sugar soap is the most effective way to wash walls prior to painting as it cuts through grease and grime easily, dish soap can also be used with warm water if sugar soap is not easily accessible.
If a wall has a mould buildup that has gotten under the paint often the only way to remove it is by painting over it. When it comes to using sugar soap beware: whilst it does help clean walls it can also leave it with a fine buildup.
Stick with warm water, or mild soap
Glossy paint: All-purpose cleaner or dish soap and water. White paint: Baking soda and water. Latex paint: Dish soap and water, or vegetable oil-based cleaner. Oil-based paint: White vinegar, or dish soap and water.
Use a mixture of lukewarm water and mild soap, gently rubbing in a circular motion. Rinse your walls using a slightly damp cellulose sponge. Tip: Check that your walls and trim are thoroughly dry before applying painter's tape to your trim.
It is just a mild detergent which is especially useful for preparing paintwork because, once it has been rinsed away, will not leave behind any residues that may hamper the adhesion of your new coat of paint.
Sugar soap is a popular choice as a toilet cleaner – just a small amount is enough to cut through limescale to brighten a grimy loo bowl.
FAST SUGAR SOAP can be used on painted walls and other household surfaces. It can also be used to clean upholstery and carpets. Do not scrub at dirt marks as this damage the paint film. Rubbing only recommended on upholstery and non-painted surfaces.
