An antibacterial cleaner is essential for sanitizing a fridge. This one kills 99.9% of germs and is suitable for food contact surfaces.
Wipes are commonly used for disinfecting the inside of a refrigerator because they seem convenient. These often require that surfaces remain wet for up to 10 minutes in order to be effective, and keeping a surface wet with disinfecting wipes can be more difficult than you might think.
You can use pretty much any cleaner you like on the inside of the fridge- they're designed to be wiped down easily. I use either an all purpose cleaner of a little bucket of hot water with dish soap.
Don't use it on a porous surface! For example: Granite is porous. Even if it is sealed.
Must rinse surfaces thoroughly with water after use. Rinse plastic toys, hard, non-porous surfaces and all food contact surfaces with potable water or a damp cloth after use.
Avoid using any harsh chemicals or multi-purpose cleaners that contain bleach or ammonia on your stainless steel appliances, and only use a clean, microfiber cloth to wipe the surface.
Mix 3 ounces of Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner with 4 cups of cold water in an empty spray bottle. Using cold water will help your fridge reach optimum temperature quicker after you've finished cleaning.
Inside the Refrigerator
Another space you should clean monthly is the inside of your refrigerator. “Take some time every month to clean everything out of the fridge, wipe it all down, and check the expiration dates on everything before putting anything back in.”
Disinfecting wipes are intended to be used by hand, and because of this, they are fairly safe when used properly. However, they are not meant to be mouthed, chewed, or swallowed.
When you receive your new refrigerator, you will want to wipe it down the inside with a soft cloth and soapy water. Avoid using any chemical products– soap and water will work best. Wipe the inner walls and all the shelving.
Can I Use Clorox Wipes to Clean the Inside of My Fridge? Yes, you can. Clorox wipes are not the ideal product to use when giving your refrigerator a proper deep clean. However, these handy wipes are a quick and easy way to clean the door handles or clear up any small spillages.

Surfaces and equipment

A mixture of warm water and a few drops of mild dishwashing soap will give you a gentle yet effective cleaning solution for the fridge's interior. Soak a clean dish rag or a soft sponge in the solution, and wipe down the inside of the refrigerator, focusing on areas with spillage and stains.
Sprinkle fresh coffee grounds or baking soda loosely in a large, shallow container in the bottom of the refrigerator and freezer. Place a cotton swab soaked with vanilla inside the refrigerator and freezer. Close door for 24 hours.
Once you have finished using disinfecting wipes on a food preparation or eating surface, make sure you rinse the surface with potable water and then dry off with a towel. This should also be followed for children's toys and objects they may put into their mouth.
Not recommended for the following surfaces: high gloss, polished, dark, brushed, satin, faux, bare/polished wood, copper, stainless steel appliances, non-stick coating or vehicle body.
