For very soiled walls, mix at least 2 tbsp. borax, 1/2 cup vinegar and 2 cups warm water. Spray the walls and wait five minutes before wiping them down. Trisodium phosphate, or TSP, is another cleaning material often used to remove grease and smoke from walls prior to painting.
Mix water and dish soap
Now that the dust is wiped away, it's time to wash walls. Fill one bucket with a gallon of warm water and mix clear liquid hand or dish soap and water in the other. Soak a cloth in the solution, and wring it out well.
You can use borax to clean areas such as sinks, window and mirrors. You can also use this borax-and-water mixture to clean walls before you paint.
Make an All-purpose Cleaner
All you need to do is to mix 3 Tbsp of borax and 1 cup of vinegar with 3 cups of warm water to make an all-purpose cleaner. Both borax and vinegar are amazing cleaners and the mixture will ease cleaning the kitchens, stove, countertops, tables, and many other surfaces of the house.
Because boric acid may be added to paint, caulk, sealant and coatings in a variety of non-contact surfaces, it can be applied to many applications that need additional protection, including interior/exterior house paints, caulks, sealants, and coatings.
Borax and vinegar are two safe ingredients that can be combined to create a good general cleaning solution. Undiluted vinegar and borax can also be used for mildew removal. When mixing Borax with other ingredients, it is essential to use warm water to help it dissolve.
The best way to clean walls painted with latex paint is to use warm water and a nonabrasive all-purpose cleaner. Dip a clean sponge in the water, then wring it dry. Gently rub the wall. Pay special attention to areas that get touched often, such as around doorknobs and light switches.
Start by wetting the walls. Then, using a pump garden sprayer, lightly spray the walls with a mixture of 1/2 cup Jomax, 1 cup of bleach and enough water to fill the container. Allow the mixture to work for 15 minutes, then scrub with a soft-scrubbing brush. This will remove mildew, mold and other dirt.
Latex-based paint responds very well to vinegar or dish detergent. Add just a few drops of dish detergent or a few tablespoons of vinegar to approximately half a bucket of water. Once these solutions have been mixed together, use a soft sponge to gently remove dirt and grime from your walls.
Compared to soft water, it has a gray appearance and can make clothes appear grayish after washing. Sometimes, laundry detergent is hard to dissolve in water, leading to residue on the clothes. When using borax, the borates in the substance can help disperse the soap, thereby preventing residue.
Note: Even though baking soda, washing soda, and borax are all different, rest assured that they are safe to combine. In fact, I add all three to the recipe for my favorite homemade laundry detergent, along with Fels-Naptha bar laundry soap!
Mix the warm water with the borax until dissolved. In a spray bottle, add in this borax water, vinegar, and soap. Give it a little shake. This works exceptionally well on ceramic showers, outside of toilets, sinks, bathroom counters, bathroom floors, and anything around the bathroom.

Borax and Ammonia Paint Remover
Let penetrate for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse off with warm water while scrubbing with steel wool. This works well to remove all paint types, including paint that is many years old.
This should create a creamy, smooth consistency. If still thick, add 1 teaspoon of water. The borax works as an antibacterial, killing any microbes, and also makes the curd more water soluble, allowing it to become the proper texture.
Clothing detergents such as liquid or powdered oxygen bleach, baking soda, and washing soda. Mold and mildew fighters such as salt or white vinegar. Cosmetics that contain natural ingredients other than borax or boric acid.
Borax: Borax is a naturally-occurring mineral found in soil, plants and even our own bodies. It works similar to baking soda in the sense that it cleans, disinfects and deodorizes. To use it to clean your grout, rub the borax into the grout with a damp microfibre cloth, then wipe clean.
The general ratio for the laundry stripping recipe is 2 parts powdered detergent, 1 part Borax and 1 part washing soda. For most laundry stripping in standard size tubs, follow this recipe: ¼ cup ARM & HAMMER Super Washing Soda. ¼ cup Borax.
Long used as a laundry additive to clean and destroy odors, Borax is safe and natural. Pour a cup in your tank to get rid of rust stains and add a cup into your bowl before bed. Do this a few times a week for a clean, fresh toilet bowl.
