Best paint for IKEA furniture
Before you start painting, you need to know what to paint with. Chalk paint is often used for painting furniture. This is because it's available in loads of different colours, applies easily (even in the nooks and crannies), and the majority of chalk paints don't need a primer.
Chalk paint technically does not require a primer ON SOLID WOOD. If you are painting laminate furniture with chalk paint, you will still need to prime first. You must seal furniture painted with chalk paint with wax.

When chalk paint isn't properly protected and sealed it can chip and scratch pretty easily.
You have to also be careful to apply wax very evenly. What happens if you don't wax chalk paint evenly is that built-up of too much wax can attract dirt. But a thin layer of wax could allow water to penetrate so be sure to use coasters on pieces that get a lot of use.
