Where are Tec X brand knives made? Tec X brand knives are manufactured in China to W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery quality standards. TecX knives comes with a limited lifetime warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials.
Don't cut hard ingredients (ice, bone, very tough roots of things like garlic etc.). Don't cut on anything that isn't wood, one of those fancy rubberized cutting boards, or plastic intended for cutting.

Japanese cleavers are excellent for cutting vegetables and proteins, thanks to their weight and thin edges. However, they are not meant for butchery. Avoid cutting through bones to prevent damaging the steel blade and to keep your knives sharp.
Without proper knife technique, micro chipping can be the downside of very hard stainless steel. A cook who is unfamiliar with the hardness of Japanese knives and is used to strongly chopping down with a knife against a cutting board, may indeed chip the knife.

By learning the simple Case Dating System, you can easily determine the year a Case knife was manufactured. In 1970, Case added dots beneath the “USA” on the tangs of all knives. As each new year passed, one dot was removed. So, nine dots appeared in 1971, eight in 1972, and so on. CASE XX.
The majority of Case knives are manufactured in the USA from their factory in Bradford, Pennsylvania, it's only their new brand of Tec X knives that are made in China. Materials used for the knives are both domestic and imported.

If you live in a humid area or plan to store the knife for a while, apply a thin layer of oil after washing. You don't need to oil it after every wash if you use the knife often, but regular oiling is important to keep the blade in good condition. Stainless steel knives, on the other hand, don't rust as easily.
