In general, both acrylic and laminate can be used for kitchen cabinets. That is mainly because both of these finishes are heat- and water-resistant, making them suitable for hot and humid environments. Being water-resistant, it is also easy to remove spills and food marks.

Acrylic finishes are relatively expensive and require a massive budget to acquire due to their glossy surface and ease of maintenance.
As acrylic finishes are aesthetically more appealing and are easy to clean, they come with higher price tags. While laminate finishes are quite durable and ideal for people on a budget.

Hardwood. Arguably the most durable material for kitchen cabinets, hardwood is solid wood. Some hardwood types, such as hickory or maple, will resist scratching and denting more than softwood species like walnut and mahogany. However, the former will cost more due to durability and overall quality.
Perspex sheets melt at high temperatures or from exposure to direct flames. The melting point for acrylic plastic is 160 degrees C, so they cannot withstand extreme temperatures. Acrylic is tough and durable, but can also be easily scratched.
While there are many types of paint to choose from, the best paint for kitchen cabinets is typically semi-gloss, gloss or satin. Matte is not practical in kitchens and baths where you will need durable paint you can easily clean.

Acrylic faced doors are made by bonding a thin layer of acrylic on to MDF. Acrylic faced doors cost a fraction of the price of solid acrylic doors without compromising on either quality or durability.

An acrylic cabinet door is made up of either wood or MDF and then covered with acrylic sheets at the end to get the chosen colour and texture.

Of the three materials, Plywood is the best option for cheap kitchen cabinets. While you can still get nice MDF or particleboard cabinets, we would say to look for plywood. Our least expensive cabinets are plywood boxes with solid wood doors. They are quality construction for a cheap price.
